according to top shelf hockey podcast, newyork islanders are showing interest in a horvat trade.
he suggested bailey to make the money work, a first and maybe a guy like dufour. bailey has 2 years at 5 mil left but is owed 3.5 mil

Just saw this article at MyHockeyNow saying the same thing https://nyihockeynow.com/new-york-islanders-bo-hovat-vancouver-canucks-trade-rumors-lamoriello-alvvin/
Their suggestion wouldn't be a good return at all, and thinking it has to be at a minimum:
Horvat for Mayfield, Raty and a 2nd. Maybe VAN retains some of Bo's salary this season.
-
Bailey hasn't played very well and center's aren't their issue, but they could slot one over to the wing. What the Isles need is a scoring infusion on the wing, maybe Miller?
I do think they'd be a good trading partner, they're playing good hockey and that core of theirs isn't getting any younger. Either Miller or Horvat could be the sort of player they add to try and go on a few runs.

what canuck players would you place on waivers?

should mogilny go into the ring of honour?

Hmm, Bieksa was around a bit longer than Salo but it's a fair question. Maybe Bieksa's more of a maybe too. It's tough to say where the line is.
The only guy I'd say is a slam dunk at this point is Edler, I dunno how they don't get Edler in there. He was here longer than Ohlund and holds many Canuck records for D.
-
Eddy, for sure should be in, and I'd also say Juice should be in the ring above Kes and Salo. Can't really find the words to explain it, but he's made more of a longstanding impact for me than 17 and 6, plus he signed the 1 day to retire a Canuck. He's never really left the city.
I wouldn't be surprised if they signed Eddy to a 1 day when he's finally ready to hang them up. Maybe they go in the ring together.

@Ghostsof1915 Not his fault either accepting that offer sheet from Booby Clarke as well but it left the team in a bit of a bind. *HOWEVER* Kesler never just 'mailed it in' on games so it's a tough call from my POV.

are our wingers good enough?

Miller and Kuzmenko are legit. Mikheyev is also legit but can't be relied on as a top 6 winger every night. Boeser is too slow and Garland is too small. Podkolzin and Hoglander are still not fully developed so still have question marks. Pearson is a 3rd liner and will be gone after next year. We do have Klimovich, Karlsson, Lekkerimaki and McDonough waiting in the wings so we have lots of youth coming up. So I would concentrate on getting more centres, especially if BO is gone.

i think 650 should hire jannek hanson to work with dodd on canuck's hour. then bring drance on for 5 minutes to tell all he knows. annoying voice and know-it-all air.

is this JR's way of saying,.. shh, we're tanking quietly.

@King HeffyI’m really starting to think yeo is the problem. One would think the players would try as hard as possible to avoid the possibility of him stepping in. But I lean towards Rutherfords comment of already having to continue to pay for green and the what’s left of BBs contract. Add a 3rd coach’s salary. Doesn’t make to much sense, a new coach isn’t going to magically change this train wreck. Ride BB out I’m sure by the end of it he’ll want out anyway.
-
any team that tanks on purpose shouldn't be able bto draft first or second.
-
moving under performing contracts, miller, boeser, pearson, OEL,myers and poolman is nearly impossible but they must try.
-
thank you B.C. lions for your season and efforts against the bombers. you did B.C. proud.
-
i'ld like to hear JR or PA come out and say, we know what the problem is, but be patient, we're working to change things around. i could live with that. could you?
-
Give it 10 more games, and if we continue this trend, our season is officially done. Just looked at capfriendly, and buying out pearson and poolman actually makes sense. you end up saving a few million in cap space tho with poolman, you'd basically get the same just sending him to play in the minors and not having the double term caphit. Myers isn't worth it, but you could retain 3 million and he's a trade chip again. Worth it for one year. OEL, we're stuck with barring him actually retiring. Yet another Swede who has a retirement contract in vancouver, much like eriksson. You eat that and try mitigate the damage with his ...intangibles playing in the press box or 3rd pairing. We're now 3 years away from anything worth mentioning because of Jim Bennings terrible trade. I'd look squarely at ownership for that. There are no shortcuts, only death by a thousand paper cuts with the way this team has been managed.

new name... one period a game canucks.....i'm a one period fan, now i guess. where did my canucks go?
-
has JR done anything yet?
-
i'll have respect for management when instead of saying what is wrong with the team, they actually do something to fix it. if it's the coaches, let them go, if its the make up of the team, change it.
if it's ownership, put the blame at their feet.
-
after their poor start, i started asking everytime they got the puck, what are you going to do with it? answer was always, give it to montreal. i fell asleep when it was 4 0. don't know if they played better in the,3rd. hard to watch.
-
has seattle a better selection of players than we have? they are sure playing better. do they have a better system?
-
Many of us (me included) snickered when Ron Francis and his staff selected a flock of nobodies in expansion. Going into season two of their existence, 14 players taken in the expansion draft are on the Seattle roster. Seattle did a particularly good job drafting defencemen, with six of their top seven taken at expansion. Vegas, on the other hand has only four original draftees, preferring instead to trade and sign marquee guys. So Vegas is all flash and dazzle while Seattle is quietly building a competitive team and looking to build through the draft (they have ALL of their draft picks for the next three years, plus six more they've acquired through trades).
But to answer your question, no, Seattle doesn't have a better selection of players, but they have 23 guys committed to pulling in the same direction and believing in what their coach is telling them. So does Vancouver but they haven't put all the pieces together yet. Vegas may win more over the next couple of years, but Seattle looks to be in it for the long haul.

not advocating a tank, but how would this line up look with bedard in the line up?
-
we've given you mikheyev, joshua, lazar, studnika, stillman and bear, bruce we should be stanley cup bound? we've given you everthing.
does JR speak for all the management staff?
-
what does each center, petey, horvat and miller need in their winger's skills that enable them to be the most successful. JR said that this team has the wrong mix of players. are the wingers we have hindering the center's play?
-
speaking of snow, 2nd day of it in smithers. time to put my scooter
away for the winter.
-
if they could move miller, myers and boeser and draft bedard, then go from there. our cap would allow us to trade for good wingers and defensemen. that would be my rebuild.

Johnson *MIGHT* have value at the trading deadline mainly because his contract ends this season. Boeser *ONLY* thing of value is that he's not old. He's injury-prone & being paid for what he might do (rather what he's done). Has nothing to do with not thinking outside the box. A shame really because he's a real stand-up guy. Solid character. Unfortunately that doesn't help any professional hockey team in the wins/losses because if he's not scoring, he's useless on the ice imho.
-
ff we could fix our defense and draft bedard, would we be a contender?
-
who skates with bedard?
c 2nd line?
-
i don't know what it would take but i'ld love to get grans from LA and mukhamadullin from NJ. future d-men in this league.
