[Signing] Benn Ferrario with the Canucks

Unbelievable signing by Mike Gillis!!!!!!!! hahahahahahah

All these depth signings are just deflecting the real truth about what needs to be done. Are any of the free agents he has signed the last 2 weeks over 200 pounds? Didn't he say we needed to get bigger, strong, and faster? Mike Gillis doesn't know what the hell he is doing and is in absolute panic mode. He is the laughing stock of the NHL. Just listen to the media around the league. Its going to be a long season here in YVR. Empty seats are coming, yet the brass are raising season ticket prices???????

Fire Gillis asap

I'm not worried about his faceoff ability. He'll almost never be asked to take a draw, even if his centerman is waived out of the circle.

He's played 96 career NHL regular season games and won 10 of the 34 draws he's taken over that period. So he's basically taken about one faceoff for every three games he's played.

28.4% is a pretty bad career faceoff winning percentage but it doesn't really matter all that much for a player who is almost never going to be asked to take a draw.

That said, for these depth type forwards, it's always a good idea to add as many tools to your kit as possible. He could give himself better options (for playing at the NHL level) if he was able to add some decent faceoffs skills to his game as well as the versatility to line-up at any of the three forwards positions.
