Things are set to be a lot different in Vancouver with John Tortorella coaching the team and forward Ryan Kesler found out first-hand what that’ll be like.

Kesler tells Ben Kuzma of The Province that Tortorella has expectations for the veteran club that they’re going to need to live up to or face Torts’ wrath.

“He’s going to expect more from everybody, and we’re going to need more,” he said. “The way things ended last year, I don’t think anybody looks at themselves as a top dog anymore. We’ve got to find our way and battle every night.”

Good thing for the Canucks is Tortorella seems like the kind of coach that will make sure no one acts like a top dog regardless. Rest assured, “battling every night” won’t be a problem with Torts there.

Thanks to the OP for bringing this interview to the forum.

There was a woeful lack of accountability last season, and too many nights where the players didn't seem to care.

Torts can bring out the best in our guys and bench/drop players who aren't putting in the effort - that is exactly what we need to move forward. A number of our players knew it didn't matter what they did last season - they knew AV wouldn't drop them.

If the Canucks can find secondary scoring, cure the Power Play woes and stay healthy - we have a team who will contend again.

As for nuck nit - he should shut his yap and concentrate on trying to come up with a positive comment for a change!

Some professionals do need to be told the obvious - if not by their team mates, then certainly by their coach.

I'll be surprised if the canucks make the playoffs this year, amishly. It's been a slow downward spiral since 2011 and Gillis seems to react 365 late on every decision that needs to be made.

Kesler and crew thought they were top dogs?? AV must have been stroking their egos pretty good .
