grandmaster
Though I do think he's not quite worth the $5.8 right now, he will be very shortly. Good signing.

D.Doughty
It's not really about his point production but what he does away from the puck. Great pk player, powerforward, hits, is a leader...
Canuck Surfer
Actually he signed a 12 year 63.3M deal with the Hawks, and with 8 years left and him already being 34, in addition to the cap recapture rule if he retires, it doesn't took that great. If anything the Lecavalier and Kovalchuk deals have negatively impacted their team the least.
Where's Wellwood
Are you on crack? Tampa owes Vinny $32.6 million dollars over 14 years. And their not a wealthy team.
AFrame14
They already named him youngest Captain, so they have already committed to him . Not so surprised .
King Heffy
High risk, high reward. They can afford to take on some extra cap hit in the next couple of years while they rebuild. By the time they should actually be worrying about the cap, that hit will be a steal if he continues to develop and stay healthy. Pretty good deal IMO. Totes McGoats
It's contracts like this that are ruining this sport, and will continue to ruin this sport until nobody can afford to ice a team. And then, bam, another lockout. Can't keep giving guys who are completely unproven this kind of cash.

kanucks25
Really surprised that they didn't sign him to a bridge contract. They probably could have got him at a cheap price for 2~ years then signed him to this big contract after that. Even if they had to pay 6 or 6.5 instead of 5.7~ after the 2-year bridge contract, it'd be worth it.
Henrik Kesler
The next rule to be implemented in the new CBA will be that any player under 25 can't sign for more than 3 years. Calling it now.

JeremyCuddles
They rush these kids, & they end up takin' a beatin'. Was a pretty nasty concussion. Similar to Edm's Hall & RNH. Better to hold these young stars back, a yr or two, if possible. Hope we don't rush our crop.

kanucks25
Except right now, they're still rebuilding so the savings won't benefit them. By the time they actually plan on becoming a contender, the contract's a bargain. Or at least, that's their thinking.
