Down by the River
2.5 mil is a great deal. Even if Hansen does not improve, the deal itself will look better and better over the next four years as the salary cap will rise and Hansen's deal, relative to the Cap, will look better. In two years from now, the going rate for a top tier 3rd liner will be more than 2.5 mil.

Down by the River
NTC of course!! Wouldn't be complete without it. It is not a NTC, it is a limited NTC, meaning the Canucks still will have options to trade Hansen.

Down by the River
You guys don't understand that MG can't sign guys cheap if he doesn't offer a NTC. Exactly. If you've had your player in your system for a number of years, you know he is going to be consistent, and you know that you want him to be part of your core going forward, why wouldn't you use a NTC to get a reduced rate? oldnews
You guys don't understand that MG can't sign guys cheap if he doesn't offer a NTC. And who really cares? Do they know the difference between a limited or modified NTC, a NTC and what is actually to be avoided, a NMC? People complain about this all the time on here but have little idea what they're talking about - and little idea of how many of these deals are actually cut around the league. The Canucks have 7. Compare that to other contending teams and they're right in the wheelhouse of what every other GM is doing. Pittsburgh had 11 to end last season. Boston 8. Calgary 9. Chicago 8. Philly 9 Dallas and Tampa 7 Another 6 teams with 6, Settle down folks. You're over-reacting.

Strombone1
Exactly. I'm of the school of thought if everyone has a NTC on long term contracts, limited or not, they can get too comfortable and all the creativity and hard work can go out the door. Harvey Specter
Good signing for the Honey Badger! Hard worker and consistent in our line up. As mentioned before, the limited NTC is a good incentive to reduce the rate and somewhat reward Hansen for his time here and moving forward. But I think you're off about the Nuck #s. For the most part, they have been given to the core players with the best work ethic.
