messier's_elbow
Kesler still needs to go to Pittsburgh in some package that involves Pouliot. It makes too much sense for both teams. I hope that happens unless the Ducks throw the farm at us.

Canuck Surfer
if kesler wanted to stay why would he have two separate meetings with the president, one of which with his agent present, and another with the gm? wouldn't one meeting where he says "i want to stay as long as the team is going to be competitive" be enough? Maybe the Canucks, with the same issues that had teammates voting him out as Assistant on their mind, instigated the conversations???
Noseforthenet
If we are getting an A grade D prospect back he's gotta be RHHe doesn't have to be right handed, he just has to play the right side. That's usually the case, but Derrick Pouliot plays the right side, with Cederholm on the left. So I think we are okay on that front. Plus, even if we aren't, one of the lefties may very well be gone to make room for a less lofty contract and give us more cap space to bolster other areas. Like offense and possibly goaltending if a good opportunity arises.
WeddingCrashers
If the Canucks are retooling then cap shouldn't be an issue! Would Kesler 50% retained command a pakage of maybe Etem, Theadore and Ott 1rst!?

Kesler alone can get that, but with retaining 50% of his cap hit? Teams would foam at the mouth thinking of having Kesler at only $2.5 million. elvis15
Well, the thread was falling off the active list, until Safeerj bumped it at least. Kinda the opposite of what he's asking us to do.
GoaltenderInterference
How reliable is Ian Esplen?ian esplen@IanEsplenRyan #Kesler will be a #Detroit #RedWing by the draft. Look for the No. 15 pick to be involved in some way #NoNyquist #NoManthahttps://twitter.com/IanEsplen

sharnhayre
I'd like to see what the full proposal is. Especially if it doesn't include Mantha or Nyquist before I pass judgement.

You're not getting a guy more offensively gifted in Nyqvist or Detroits best prospect since Datsyuk. We have to be more realistic.Detroit has a lot of other quality pieces in Tatar, Sheehan, Smith, Sproul and Jurco.
CanucksLegacy
From what I can remember, Ian Esplen works for hockeybuzz site (Eklund's site)....take from that what you will.

If Staal can fetch Sutter, the 6th overall pick, and another good prospect, Kesler should be worth about the same.
Speed or Size
If Detroit offered Sheahan Tartar and the 1st I'd consider it but then hang up the phone laughing. Mantha or Couturier or he goes to anaheim.
Guest Dasein
How reliable is Ian Esplen?https://twitter.com/IanEsplen ian esplen @IanEsplen 2h @DavidEnglander mostly hunch, but it just seems like a good fit. Benning saw the Wings 9 times at least, so he'll know who he wants. Details Reply Retweet Favorite More It's on a "hunch"... The guy is just trying to get followers. His twitter account description says he's "searching for a job"... Zero credentials. No Nyquist makes perfect sense but no Mantha is a reach IMO. It all depends on the other packages. If other teams step up with strong offers, Detroit will have to include Mantha or pull out of the race.
