Gross-Misconduct
Peaceful mergers are lame. We need to go over there and kill, mame and totrure the natives and take the island by force like they did in the good old days.
Offensive Threat
Why would we want them as part of Canada? Whats in it for us? Would it be somehow cheaper for Canadians to vacation there then it currently is? We can already go there whenever we want so whats the big deal? Members of Parliament want it so they can have excuses for the taxpayer to pay for them to go down there regularly.
hsedin33
And all of Canada moved to that one island...
Dion Phaneuf
Turks is one of my favourite places to vacation in the Caribbean. I'd welcome them as our 11th province.
VICanucksfan5551
This has been kicked around for a while. It'd be interesting and as far as I know the residents there are relatively receptive to the idea. Haven't really looked into the economics, though. hockeyville88
If they get a hockey team, I might switch loyalties. And I'd want their jerseys to look a little something like Trinidad and Tobago's from Mighty Ducks

nucklehead
I don't know. If they don't have any interest in lobbying for an NHL team, we don't really need them as another province... ? The majority of Canadian Provinces don't have franchises
ForsbergTheGreat
You can tell people on this site don't get out much. Why would this be a good investment. As a Canadian you can't live outside canada for more than six months without loosing your canadian citizen benefits. Many of the canadian snow bird would like to escape the cold so palm springs/scottsdale have become huge canadian tourist spots. When they live outside the canada for so long we are not collecting sales tax and there spending habbits don't benefit our economy (unless you want to get in the topic of having US dollar strong keeps canada's economics stable, blah another day another time.). Many of these people would love to spend longer than 6 months in a warm destination and the Gov't would like their sales tax. So it's a win, win. We have neighbors who are retired and he has some kind of lung ailment that dry warm weather is great for and they go to Nevada every winter and its great and he comes back after 6 months, because they have to, and gets progressively worse and worse until fall when they can go again. Bet they would move to that island tomorrow if they could stay year round.
Offensive Threat
there's a lot of undeveloped land down there http://www.sothebysrealty.com/eng/sales/tca The entire Turks and Caicos is only 615 or so square kilometers of land. Theres not a lot of anything down there. EDIT: For comparisons sake Vancouver island is roughly 50 times larger at 31,000 square kilometers.
