WEVEGOTMOTTE
west is too competitive... me thinks bettman knew this when doing the alignments. East has a much better road to the playoffs and to the cup! Tell that to the leafs:)
Ryan Strome
west is too competitive... me thinks bettman knew this when doing the alignments. East has a much better road to the playoffs and to the cup! Meanwhile L.A just won the cup.

jannik freaking hansen
This is what you got to do when no one wants to sign with your team. The single greatest thing keeping Edmonton from becoming a cup contender or even playoff contender (other than poor management) is the fact that they play their hockey in Edmonton 41 times a year. At least they were smart enough to get a short term deal.
Caboose
I think Emelin money is reasonable for him. They also have to pay more to get guys to stay there.
Devoted
He probably would've accepted 9 million over 3 years from a better team/city. Edmonton shaved a year and still gave him his 9 million. Big win for Nikitin.
elvis15
2 goals and 15 points and he gets $4.5M for two years. Why are people still upset with Edler and Garrison?
Phil_314
2 goals and 15 points and he gets $4.5M for two years. Why are people still upset with Edler and Garrison? Good point, and I'm not looking forward to the prices we'll have to pay to bring anyone in via free agency. With a deal like this, I think Vanek and Stastny could each get $8 M+, Grabbo, Boyle, Hemsky and Stralman could probably get $5 to $5.5, and Hiller could probably still get a raise despite posting weaker numbers. Hopefully a deal like this won't be regarded as the watermark for UFA contracts, otherwise I'd say it was a smart move for J.B. to cut Booth loose early if he has someone he wants to throw money at. Devoted
2 goals and 15 points and he gets $4.5M for two years. Why are people still upset with Edler and Garrison? Spot on. This Canucks team doesn't have one horrid contract as far as i'm concerned. Market value is sky rocketing and while Vancouver may have a few too many NTC's, they are in a very enviable position cap-wise. The only contract that could become bad is Daniel's, but I have faith he'll return to a 70 point player.

CRAZY_4_NAZZY
WAY OVERPAYMENT. At best a number 4-5 dman.....I know they need defense, but overpayment is not always the best case. It may be a short term gain but they will quickly find out he isn't worthh 4.5 mil a year.
