-Vintage Canuck-
Canucks selected a Russian 113th overall back in 1989. Canucks select another Russian 114th overall, this year. The next Pavel Bure? He's the same height as him too.
Ossi Vaananen
He's the blocked shot on the pk, that leads to second assist in the 2-1 goal. Around 1:35:

TheRussianRocket.
Leafs selected Timashov a few picks after we selected Zhukenov. Timashov a lot more well known here having played in the Q and they got a steal. Maybe JB sees something in Zhukenov? Not much exposure to NA, it's natural for us to be unsure since there's not much to rely on.
Lonny_Bohonos_14
The fact that he is buried so deep in the Russian system, I wonder how hard it would be to convince him to come to NA to play in the chl?
Carl's Jn
TSN 1040 repeating the ISS feedback and ceiling is someone who won't make it to the NHL thats crap... can't believe the canucks would pick someone that won't make it to the nhl with out doing their homework. i don't believe tsn 1040. Phil_314
Canucks Prospects @NucksWatch 58s58 seconds ago Zhukenov is a shifty winger who can also play down the middle. Fast skater, good dangles as you would expect from Russian forward. #Canucks Pass it to Bulis retweeted Corey Pronman @coreypronman 7m7 minutes ago VAN takes a Russian! Zhukenov was a tough cut from my top 100 but could see a case. Impressed in the U18 tournaments. Jon Abbott @HockeyAbbs 4m4 minutes ago #Canucks now have Zhukenov RW/C on their board. Speed is noted when his name comes up, as well as quick release. Noted as a project #TSN1040 Not the worst, I guess. At least we got some mobile defenders. Not sure how many would even pan out but "it's a process". Just hope he doesn't pick any more Mackenze Stewart's or Kyle Pettit's. DeNiro
I have a feeling this might be the Canucks giving their Russian scout a pick to make him feel included. I mean that's two Russians in two years now. Maybe they're trying to scout Russian players more now.

higgyfan
Anyone know if it's likley he'll play for Russia at the World Juniors? PPG last year in U19 is impressive (second overall for Russian skaters). Sure would be amazing to see him make the Jrs.
cuporbust
At least we're finally picking some Russians. Sounds like Benning drafted a little mini-Bure project. Lol. More like a shirokov

Should be on Russia's radar As long as we have some prospects to cheer for at the World Juniors I'm happy. Hopefully McCann, Virtanen, Zhukenov, and Jasek all get to represent their countries. hatedkid666
This guy is probably the project with the biggest upside, risky for sure. He is either makes it and becomes really good or never makes it
CRAZY_4_NAZZY
Benning very high on this guy TSN 1040 interviewed him and said that Zhukenov is comparable to Pavel Datsyuk in his draft year. Said he is a very determined Russian Centre who thinks the game well with high hockey IQ, very good offensive player and defensive player. Strength an issue and needs to work on it but really likes the potential in him.
