Mattrek
That's pretty much a contradiction, though. How so? Players can play well in a game and at the same time coaches can screw up a win with their decision making.
VenitoHammer
FFS Willie D again!! Does he not see the same thing happening?? And poor Miller, having Sbisa score 2 and Edler 1 on him, clear the damn lane and let the guy stop the puck!
Canucks Curse
does WD even have a ball sac?
Jam126
But the reason the vets aren't playing tighter and with more energy is they're tired, because WD only plays two periods rolling all 4 lines. It's no wonder players are gassed near the half way point in the 3rd. One only need to look at the Montreal game to see what happens when we actually roll all 4 lines.I was initially fumed at Willie, and he still made pretty stupid choices. But the D-men needed to shut it down at least, keep getting the puck back into their zone. And no dump-in BS.
Canucks Curse
I don't know....it took you 14 months to learn how not to spell Vrabata.I am not in pr sports. Oops did I forget the "o?" Oh, I did, maybe quote me again and point it out.
Googlie
Sbisa was actually pretty good tonight, though. He got 2 goals!!! In his own net, though

On one hand you say you like the direction of the team, then on the next you slam the coach. You don't see the fault in the logic? It isn't a 20 game season. Honky Cat
Obviously, blowing another 2 goal lead is a pain in the ass,but overall this group has totally exceeded my expectations so far...Whats more interesting,is you can tell that they have a lot more to give.I didn't think they stood much of a chance in this game, but they were toe to toe,and almost/should have won it..There is no doubt that they can compete with the elite teams,on any given night...Any team that takes the Canucks lightly would be in for a rude awakening..IMO.Again..even though the rookies didn't get on the scoresheet, they all made contributions..and the only way that they're going to learn is by playing (and sometimes making mistakes..as a team in transition..you just deal with it). DeNiro
True, but we're still letting teams back into the game. I want the Canucks to step on throats when they have another team down. Yea that would be nice for sure, but this is a team that's still finding its identity. There was always going to be growing pains. You don't just add 5 rookies into the lineup and expect it to be a seamless transition. Even the coach has a learning curve at this point.I still like this teams speed, hustle, and energy much more than last seasons team, even if it comes with some hiccups. oldnews
Sbisa has had a great start to the season.Very few turnovers - in fact only 1 giveaway after 10 games - outstanding improvement in puck movement. Even 0 turnover differential.Better than a block and a hit a game.A couple points, an even 0 plus minus, and respectable underlying numbers.Just under 18 minutes a game with the lowest offensive zone starts on the blueline at 41.8% - almost exclusively playing with a rookie or newcomer to the blueline. If he continues to improve at anywhere near this rate, he'll be precisely what GMJB hoped he'd be when he acquired him. I think the team needs to rebuild, not full edmonton, but they do need to sell high on a couple of their players (hamhuis, vrbata) and so WD tanking this team is an observation but his inept coaching is just speeding up a process I wanted the team to go through at some point. Would be nice to get a chance to draft in the top 5 again and maybe get that franchise d man we have never had.

This season, next season, the season after. We are getting good results out of what we are doing. You have to plant the seeds, and till the soil, before you reap. The harvest will come. Canucks Curse
He got 2 goals!!! In his own net, though sbisa, bartowski and weber are absolute adventures in their own end. Most Junior d men would have known to step up on Benn when he had the puck in front of our net in OT, but nope, Weber wanted nothing to do with him, passed him on to Bo who shoulw have been the guy to cover the guy weber went with, weber is just not smart out there - see the OT goal he tred to do a line change on a few games ago

DeNiro
Look at the teams that we're losing to in OT and you'll see a theme.Calgary, Edmonton, Detroit, and Dallas. All fast teams with alot of skill. It's not like we're being outclassed by these teams, they're deploying the right personnel and strategy for wining in these situations. Any one of these games were winnable had we countered with the right personnel.Just like the shootout, you need to have your specialists who practice this situation and know they're getting the call when it goes to 3 on 3. Detroit has Tatar and Nyquist, Flames have Hudler and Gaudreau, Edmonton has Hall and McDavid. These are the types of players that win it for you in OT.We may not have those types of players now, but the sooner we start developing these OT specialists the better off we'll be. Especially if 3 on 3 catches on and sticks.

That hit could not have been more clean. And it's not like it was a rookie getting taken advantage of, Virtanen is a year younger LOL Don't get why they would chirp him for that.
