Our right side is Hopefully by the time Bieksa is gone one of our RD prospects(Corrado/Clendening) are able to take over a regular spot. LD won't look that great once Hamhuis is gone as well. We see that kind of thing on CDC all the time. There's still the question of "was Baertchshi mishandled", etc? There's more than one side to everything and the media pounces on both sides all the time, especially in a Canadian market.Definitely mishandled. Whatever though, our gain! Didn't say it would be easy, that's why Benning gets the big pay cheque and the office at the Rog But anybody that thinks what we currently have (particularly on that right side) for D is anything more than popsicle sticks held together by rubber bands and chewing gum is not swimming in the reality pool. Benning's (and Gillis before him) done a fantastic job of shoring up our current and future forward group and getting us depth at both levels on D. The main issue left is on defence. This is perhaps the most crucial time in his development, to get him out of the funk of the last few years with Calgary, to get acclimated to the new system and refine his game with Green, and to take a major role with a very strong team on a championship playoff run. Also, note that Utica is playing effectively the same system as the Canucks are, so this would be a less jarring transition than it's been in years past. A Calder cup drive will do him good. If Miller is healthy, Markstrom will be back down for the drive as well, so they may go far. I'd be surprised to see him with the big club. The Canucks are already carrying extra players. He's already played 66 games in the NHL, so I don't see any point in bringing him in for 1 or 2 then sending him down.
