Sutter is not going anywhere till at least next years TDL

Never say never...I mean if some team came offering a solid package for him, Benning might not turn it down. But I tend to agree that NEXT season is far more likely to see any Sutter movement.

If we can get a return for Sutter that's half decent, I would be okay with trading him, but I'm not sure he's worth much atm. If he doesn't get anything but a low pick, I'd lean towards keeping him.

Point taken Agent, but the offer would really have to be way above and beyond expectations IMO for that to happen. In addition to that he has a full NTC until next year so the ball is really in his court. Another thing to consider is that he would still have appreciable value to trade to a contending team next year if they choose to wait till then and he would only have a modified NTC next year

Would love to ship sutter out of here

I really think a playoff contender would give us their 3019 first for Big ?Balls Sutter.  If we did that, we could take our 20@9 first and the ?Sutter first and trade them together to get into the top five.  It’d be 25 plus 10 and gets us 4.  Then we get Kano or hugs.  Ther be fresh, don’t you think?

Is t dach a really big and talented forward?  I heard him compared to Getslaf.  That might be better than .hughes or Kokomo.

Benning went on record last season and had offers for Brandon Sutter, but passed. Might be different this time around with Gaudette knocking very hard on the door. Is it just pure coincidence that team's dip in play coincided with Sutter coming back into the lineup? Hes overrated, skating is so so, a defensive specialist who can't defend, injury prone and vastly overpaid. Gaudette is an NHLer and deserves to be on the roster

A contending team or a young team on the brink of making it to the playoffs can use Sutter. If Carolina is close, they'd be a pretty good fit with all their young players. Toronto, Vegas could be pretty decent destinations

Totally agree.  If we can dump ?Sutter for picks/prospects it’s gotta be done.  Gaudette has young lively legs, and us now the superior player.  Bye bye Sutter, you overpaid loser lump slug.  Is Sutter slower now than when we got him?  My Gid he’s slow.  I’m faster in my scooter!

Id even take a 3rd - or a 4th for Sutter, if we can get more, then great! The fact that his salary can possibly come off the books and could be allocated to a Michael Furland is worth trading the "foundational piece of $hit" LOL

That’s such a good point.  People forget about freeing up cap dollars to sign UFAs when dumping slugs like Sutter.  4.5 million off the cap means we could absolutely sign Ferkman or Stoner.  Both of which are way way way better than big balls.

Sutter is a great player and quality guy for the dressing room. That said I doubt he is still hear in 3 years when the team becomes a more serious CUP contender. IMHO a choice has to be made between him and Beagle. I can see Gaudette playing 3C but not Beagle. Sutter can bring something back in a trade. The question becomes when is the best time to move him for maximum return versus having a player ready to replace him. This is why I want Gaudette to experience a long Calder Cup run in Utica. It could bring him into camp next fall ready to take the 3C spot. If Benning can get a 1st rdr for Sutter they should take it.

I am hoping that they leave Gaudette in Utica for a chance at a Calder Cup run and have him play in Vancouver full time next season. Having him playing in the AHL playoffs will better prepare him to succeed in Vancouver next year IMO.

Further to that thought; it would be nice to see Gaudette on the 3rd line with Gaudette and Sutter alternating places between center and wing depending on who they are playing against. This also IMO, will increase his value to the team going forward.

Towards next years trade deadline; if Gaudette has demonstrated that he is fully capable of shouldering the load of the # 3 C position, then Sutter can be traded for a quality prospect, player or if they should be so lucky, a 1st round pick
