As much as we harp on the Eriksson contract, all it cost us is a roster spot and Aquillini's money.

Ottawa paid out the ass for Burrows, Ryan, and Duchene, and are now starting a rebuild.

After watching Lucic play this season, Im perfectly fine have Eriksson here. At least Louie contributes in other ways, Lucic can barely keep up even on an Oilers PP

Snepsts!

FWIW, they're showing him as #54 on the Comets' website.

Well if they give him 54 over 27 then they must have had a look at some video and said, "he is twice as good as we thought he was"

Out of the pot and right into the frying pan versus the 3rd best team in the entire AHL on Friday!

We're going to see what we've got in this prospect right away with the final few reg. season games and playoffs coming up.

Should be interesting.

Interesting that he's wearing #27 ;) The Comets just got a big boost.

Sounds like he attended Utica's training camp. Probably a photo from that.

Dahlen played some games with Utica early in the season didn't he? How'd he look?

Dahlen was expected to be in Utica this season but was diagnosed with mono prior to the Young Stars Tournament in Penticton. He did return in time to play some pre-season action for the Comets but it was decided that heading back to Sweden for the year was the best option for his development.

Overseas leagues count as professional games I take it? Which means we could have left him un-signed for one more season to save us a year on his contract and Expansion exemption? Mono really screwed us over again.

Oversea is not considered a professional league in the NHL rulebook if your age status is under 20.  Only NHL or AHL but not counting European league if you are under 20 years old.   I believe that is the case. I could be wrong.   Also if you joined AHL late in the season without playing 10 NHL games, it is not considered a professional year if you are under 20 also.   This is related to expansion draft rules on exempted list so I think Dahlen is exempted.   The situation would be similar with Gaudette, if he joined AHL straight from NCAA, he would be exempted from expansion draft but he joined the Canucks so counted for a professional year even though he didn't play 10 NHL games due to the age.  Patterson year in SHL did not count for a professional year in NHL's eyes.

aka Seattle eligible.

This sucks, but we sooner or later need to trade away some of our younger guys for below market value picks or even greener prospects just so we get to keep others.

Expansion drafts suck.

And the expansion team goes on to kick your ass.
