I mean - not good enough considering what was expected from him when drafted, but better than prior seasons. I bet someone takes the chance on him. people have unrealistic expectations. when you're taken 22nd overall, you have a decent shot / that pick comes with a reasonable percentage/odds of being an NHL player, but those odds are still less than 50% and closer to 30%. so all things considered, Schroeder could actually be considered to have lived up to his 'pedigree' - he has played 144 nhl games, hovered in the range of a 12th/13th forward on the edge of decent rosters..... As well, he failed to stick with a playoff team (yeah that sounds weird when talking about the Blue Jackets - course I woud've questioned a person's sanity if they felt Torts would find success in another head coaching NHL gig - let alone win the Jack Adams trophy again). And it's not like they're doing THAT badly this VERY early this season either. I personally always thought he was a boom or bust player (rather than being able to stick sort of as a fringe NHLer). Yeah, that's fair on all accounts. And it is especially up in the air if it's a guy like Schroeder who - despite the changes in the league over the last few years - is still undersized. He didn't really play that undersized, but it still limited him to be a top-six kind of guy or bust. Unfortunately, it was the latter.

apollo
Sigh.... knowing my fantasy luck, Niemi will post 74 straight shutouts and Luongo will never see the net again when he's back.

Western Red
Fair enough^ If we hadn't been the best team in the league at the time, I think things might have been different. I'm still a Schroeder fan.
