Typically, I really like Habs fans. They are incredibly knowledgeable, while also not accepting poor play for too long. That said, they need to direct their frustrations towards to the source. Carey Price is the last thing those fans should be concerned about.

Vancouver fans shouldn't talk though, they did almost the exact same thing

No, I don’t think they did. Canuck fans on CDC may have, but inside Rogers Arena? Apathy was what Canuck fans showed.

The issue with the goaltending situation in Vancouver is really quite simple, and nobody should have to explain the difference between that and Montreal. But may as well, very quickly:

1. Two great goaltenders

2. Younger and cheaper goaltender began to outplay the starter

3. Vancouver begins to actively shop older, more expensive goaltender

4. GM waits to long, overplaying hand, and is then “forced” to move younger goaltender

5. Older goaltender begins to show signs of age as new backup, while certainly not as consistent on a night to night basis, showed that older goaltender was not worth the investment anymore

6. Cut ties and get anything in return

The fans didn’t push Luongo or Schneider out.

Many analysts were saying that the Canadiens biggest weakness now was on their blueline.  Bergevin depleted the club's depth trying to shore up the offensive woes that have been plaguing the team the last little while.  This has met with mixed success so far.

Now that Price is having a rough start and only has one stud (an aging Weber) in front of him, the heat is on and the fans are looking for a scapegoat.

Montreal with their French Canadian quota in management and coaching simply hurt themselves, the game with a strong international flavour and expansion has left them behind.

I'm thinking behind the scenes Patrick Roy may be their next Quebecois saviour in a GM role, they are running out of options with coaches unless Vigneault gets fired in NY.

The pool is too shallow for the Habs to operate with those quota principles.

That's sad. Price has carried that team for years on his back and made them look way better then they were. If anything they should point the finger at their GM. Bergevin made some awful decisions in trading Subban for Weber and not electing to resign Radulov or Markov which left a huge hole on their back end.  Not to mention they don't really have any young promising prospects up coming either.

I actually don't mind the Habs or their fans, but it's not fair to blame Price for this when they are last #31 in Goals For.

Taking Carey Price as a scapegoat is a very very very bad idea. You should have known better, Habs' fans.

Price is the Canadiens, they are literally nothing without him.  He carried them last few years and they did nothing to support him to win a cup.  He's 30 years old now and his prime years are going to be wasted with the Habs.

Habs really honestly need to trade him for pieces, but as many noted, even this will be tough now because of his contract.  Teams simply don't need a $10.5 million dollar goalie to win a cup.

Just always takes me back to how everyone thinks Luongo contract was terrible.  He signed that term to give the Canucks flexibility with a lower cap hit.  Although he is 38 now and been dealing with some injuries, he is still one of the best value goalies when he is healthy.
