PhillipBlunt
That's the best idea Chayka ever had. I wonder what kind of analytics he ran to decide on retiring Doan's number.

nuckin_futz
Moses wandered aimlessly in the desert for 40 years. Shane Doan wandered aimlessly in the desert (Phoenix) for 20 years. That's impressive.

JeremyCuddles
Doan played forever for a team that didn't deserve him. Deserves to have his number retired, even though I think the idea is a bit wacky. If only they had more success with him there. Have they ever had a 4-5 year stint of being a playoff team in his time there?
Nucker 67
Nice to see other teams retiring jerseys without ever winning a Cup. Seems like a natural thing to do, honouring Doan.

Made the 3rd round once.

I'm still butthurt at the teams they got to play that year
GB5
Great player and part of the great Kamloops Blazer classes of the early to mid 90's. Kamloops had some good ones back then including Iginla, Tucker, Sydor, Niedermeyer,.....There's about three hall of famers in that list, good times for us Blazer fans. That goes for all retired numbers so others can aspire to and where numbers of idols etc. It in no way disrespects those already retired. Doan, awesome career and one of those great leaders and class acts who never won the Cup.

Yes, same with Marcel Dionne, Gilbert Perrault, Darryl Sittler, Eric Lindros, etc. Lots of great players that have never won the Cup.
-AJ-
Pretty much the most obvious decision in the history of the franchise. Great guy who clearly deserves it.

I think he was referring to the Jets (rightfully) never moving from Winnipeg therefore Doan would retire a Jet having only played for one franchise Jets/Coyotes.
