I think everyone is brushing over that we have had TWO prospects want out of Utica this year

Palmu and Dhalen, so there might be something else going on in Utica

I think organizationally we are kind of stifling offensive creativity and trying to turn everyone into two way players. Weird how the more scoring oriented players in the organization are not having a good year.

no benefit in scoring if you give up as many (or more) than you score.

You are basing this off zero information we have about the situation outside of "his agent asked for a trade". For all we know he just sees a log jam of forwards and wants to be in a better situation. I don't know anything about Dahlen, not enough to start name calling him. I imagine you also don't know a ton about him.

You may be onto something there, hopefully the team comes to their senses and realizes you can’t win if you dont score and encourage the offensive players creativity

is this reminding anyone of the Shinkaruk trade.  I think coaching staff back then saw deficiencies in Shinkaruks game and they realized that his playing style might not translate to the NHL.  I wonder if this happened with Dahlen.

Maybe Trent Cull is the problem.

Gradin was the scout for dahlen too.

I just don’t see any gain with this, it doesn’t add anything at any level.

They were very high on dahlen and for good reason.they gave up on him very fast.

Its like I’m not hoping the new kid doesn’t work out we need any and every pick and prospect we have to work out at this rate.

I just don’t see why they make this deal,  if a a defensive prospect was coming back it would be more understandable.

Jimmy  I like discussions with you,  they are discussions even when I disagree.

To many people take instant offence with others that feel differently.

if you like this deal or can understand it then great I just don’t see any value at this point.

I think its too soon to see it as a gain or a loss, just a lateral move. Linus seems to have a bit more size, so there's that.

Now that we know more of the background from his agent, its best imo to move on from a guy thats not happy being here. He wasn't going to get NHL time even this year so if you can make a lateral move to another skilled F that Gradin likes, then thats OK.

I do agree, if a d prospect was possible then I would have loved that as well, but I just don't think that was in the cards. Sounds like they spent a few weeks on trying to find a fit so unfortunately Chicago didn't see a fit for one of their d prospects.

he may have just shot himself in the foot........Ottawa moved him, thinking he wasn't going to be an NHL player.  Comes to NA last year and goes back to Sweden, then asks for a trade out of Van because his ice time in the AHL wasn't enough.  Not a good start to his career

Kid asked for a trade and JB obliged.

Fair enough. Personally I had the thought at a few points this season that it wouldn't have hurt to give him a look at the NHL level when we had injuries or struggling players. Maybe this turns out to be shink 2.0 but maybe not and we end up watchin Dahlen turn into a good player for a Western conference rival.

Then you would know there is a logjam of forwards. Kids are having trouble getting into the lineup regularly. Hullo?

Dahlen has more talent and potential than every forward on that team.  If hes in fear of getting benched or scratched, the problem is him.

The Canucks do not have a log jam of high end forwards.  Dahlen could have made the big club next year.   You want to see a log jam of forwards?  Look at the sharks top 9 and tell me where Dahlen fits in.
