Provost
Digging up the report to link, on 1040 they just talked about a report out of Dallas that Benn wants out and interested in Vancouver. He has a full NMC so this would be only something if he did a Kesler and demanded a trade but only with Vancouver. We wouldn’t want to give the return he is worth and he has a long time left on a big contract. I would go as far as: Virtanen Juolevi for Benn It would solve or LW top line issue edit: can’t find the original report, but it is discussed on TSN here. https://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1040/kuzma-canucks-have-two-jobs-this-offseason-a-winger-for-bo-horvat-and-a-top-4-defenseman-1.1304269 Edited May 12, 2019 by Provost

Provost
... that would sure be funny if the brothers we got weren’t the Hughes, but the local Benn boys 1
Popular Post sonoman
That’s an enormous salary for the next 6 years at which time he’ll be 36. Not sure how to fit that in. Louie, Sutter, Goldie +/- other moving parts.

Dombrova22
If it's true, you 100% give up whatever it takes to get this guy. Great leadership, mentorship, and proven playoff performer. Adding his 60+ points per year instantly puts us in the playoff race. Add a dman or two, and we are poised to make run as early as next year. Western Red
Wow this is an interesting development. He's just what we need. https://www.capfriendly.com/players/jamie-benn 6 more years at 9.5 per though. Dallas would probably want a lot. Plus there's the Aquilini/ Gaglardi thing that almost makes me think it'd be near impossible to get him. 2

Popular Post I.Am.Ironman
He's a good player but it would probably cost the Canucks Juolevi + Virtanen + 1st Round pick. The Nucks are better off with those 3 younger and cheaper pieces moving forward than with an ageing Jamie Benn. Plus, he $#*% talked the Sedins and has yet to accomplish what they have so he can rot in Dallas for all I care. I would rather throw an extra 0.5-1 million of cap at Panarin who is younger and won't cost assets. I will also add that 9.5M for what was 53 points this past year is too much cap spent for what may be 55-65 points for the next few years. Horvat gets that at a rate that is 4M cheaper. Popular Post apollo
No chance Dallas would give him to us. Too much beef between ownership groups. They'd be asking for Horvat plus... Good luck giving them sutter or Loui lol 1 1
Popular Post Pears
Benn - Pettersson - Boeser would be absolutely unreal. I’d do Juolevi, Virtanen, 2020 top 10 protected 1st. 1 2 3
Popular Post Provost
Ya, the Dallas reporter thought that Horvat going back is a definite no go. Like I said in the OP, it would only be good for us if he pulled a Kesler and demanded a trade, but gave them one option as a destination. 2020 lottery protected 1st, Baertschi, Juolevi, and a little cap going their way like Spooner maybe. Interesting that it is the 2nd guy who has interest in coming home now that we are on the upswing. Another veteran who is of great interest to me is Hornqvist. Word is he may be one of the guys on the outside when the Pens try to figure out their cap issues. He is playing with Petterson at the Worlds and has a NMC... agreeing to waive to play with a fellow Swede superstar could easily be argued. Boy, our team would look a lot different with a couple moves like that which don’t mortgage our entire future: Benn-Petterson-Hornqvist Pearson-Horvat-Boeser Roussel-Gaudette-Leivo Granlund-Beagle-MacEwan Motte We could focus on our D in UFA. Coconuts
He's a helluva player but he wouldn't be worth what it'd cost unless the price comes down. Too much going on between owners as other have mentioned. If he pulled a Kesler and said "Hey, send me here or here" there might be something but that sort of thing is pretty damn rare. Not sure I'd want that contract when he's older either, he plays a physical brand of hockey and that doesn't generally age well. 1
