And producing like 100 points a season with 3 more seasons left in his contract. He will instantly strength our top line and make us contender in the next 3 years. Why Chi do this: Chi is rebuilding. They will go nowhere with current aging roster. sell high, dump salary, collect prospects and draft picks is the way to go. The roster of next 3 years: (It is almost the best top 9 of the league). Fanuck
In the highly unlikely event of this even being remotely considered by the two GM's - Kane waives his NMC exactly why? It's not like playoffs are a guarantee for us by any means.

It’s retain fir the entire term of the contract or not at all

Kane Petterson Miller Boeser Horvat Pearson Virtanen Gaudette Roussel(Leivo) MacEwen Beagle Filler Okay, where to start...... Yes, Patrick Kane is a great player and still performing incredibly well. However, he is now 31 years old and will be starting to decline in a year or two. I would like to move LE, but not at the expense of adding another high dollar contract (even with 50% retained, its still 5.25 million), and longer term. Take a look at who we have to sign 2 - 4 years out and ask if you would rather sign them, or have an aging Patrick Kane around tying up the space we need for them. This scenario gives up WAY too much, even if it is Patrick Kane. If he was still in his mid...ish 20's, then great, but players don't play forever and he is well past the midway point of his career. Considering Benning's ability to find guys in the draft, I'd much rather keep Eriksson and if necessary buy him out this summer and keep the draft picks and prospects. IMO, we're much further ahead in that scenario. Remember, these trades don't always work out the way that you hope when adding older players. Look at San Jose with Karlsson, He's still putting up points, but they have not performed well as a team since making that trade. It could be argued that they gave away FAR too much in younger depth to go all in. That approach doesn't work as often as it used to in the NHL. The cap creates whole new dynamics. You're better to build from within and add selectively for depth. 11.5 million per year at that term for someone who's turning 30 before the end of the season and is committed for another 7 years after this, that's a hard number to move. IMO, trust Benning, stay the course and unless another deal like snagging Miller, comes along, keep developing our draft picks.

It’s a concrete rule. oh. And did I mention Vancouver can’t actually trade their 1st this year because if they make the playoffs it’s already going to Tampa? wildcam
Kane is a fantastic player but 10 million and he is 30 yrs old.. We need to keep on path we are on and can't give up another 1st round pick as Tampa have Canucks 1st rounder in either 2020 or 2021 draft. This Canuck team is going to be power house lets be patient and not trade away high picks and prospect. We are not a cup contented just yet but we are getting closer.. Future is very bright and exciting.. Edited January 18, 2020 by wildcam

If a Kane trade was even a remote possibility you’re probably looking at Boeser, Höglander, Demko, Juolevi, and 2 1st round picks at least and even then I think they still hang up.
