To Sens Eriksson,Baertschi & rights to Virtanen

To Van 2nd rd Isles & 6th rd Blues

To NJD Boeser

To Van Severson

This would clear alot of cap space and we get a top 4 dman at a reasonable cap.

More like:

Eriksson, Virtanen, and a 2nd

for a

5th round pick

And I can still see Ottawa not doing it.

It's funny how Jake Virtanen is the most hated player on the Canucks yet people seem to think teams are gonna be interested in taking Eriksson off our hands for him as well as give us a 1st or 2nd rounder on top of it. Nobody is giving us a 2nd rounder for Jake Virtanen and two cap dumps especially one as massive as Eriksson's. People like to talk about him like he's some shutdown defensive specialist but he isn't. He does nothing offensively and does little to nothing defensively. He has decent hustle and that's about it.

Ya not sure why Ottawa does this?  I'd give Ott all that for a 3rd and run

I don't think him; I just think he needs a fresh start and a kick in the ass to grow up.

Those people have been smoking some BC Bud, Jake doesnt dump a 2 yr 6m per season contract...no chance in hell. He might help dump Sven or Sutter or Stecher in a deal.

Boeser for Severson would be a terrible deal in my opinion.   You don’t save much cap first of all, and you’d basically be trading a 1st line calibre winger for a good but not great top 4 dman.     With Boeser, I’d rather trade for a young ELC defenseman with much bigger potential than for a guy (DS) that isn’t likely to get better at this point.   Aside from that though, I’d be much more inclined to keep Boeser.   A 2020 1st + an elite prospect already trending upwards is the only thing that would get my attention on Boeser talks.

BB is generally regarded a top 12ish RWer league wide and he’s just getting started.   When he went down he was tied for 5th in points but people forget.   His playoffs weren’t spectacular but they definitely weren’t bad for a first timer either - and after EP and Miller was the most noticeable forward vs  Vegas.   Can’t wait to see what this kid can do in his prime.  He’s got 35/35 written all over him.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree.

I’m just of the opinion that....

1) having Toffoli as your top winger and taking a calculated gamble on Virtanen as your 2nd line RW (he scored 18 goals this past season with limited minutes), is the worst thing in the world when you consider that....

2) Potentially moving Boeser for a 2020 1st and an elite prospect would not only clear 5.85 million in cap space, but would also give the Canucks two great chances of finding a top pairing RD that can be the Brent Seabrook to Quinn Hughes’ Duncan Keith (the only thing we’re really missing in our organization in my opinion).

It’s just a thought.

The far more likely scenario is that Benning will move Virtanen, but I’m just not sure if Benning will get the return (or desires freed up cap space) in electing to move Virtanen.

Don’t get me wrong though - I love Boeser!
