Well here in southern Spain it's day 7  of the lock down. Our flight home March 27th is cancelled next available flight April 25! Took a week of trying to contact Westjet to get info! Days spent on hold, emails, Facebook..........

We are staying at a small farm isolated from people but must leave tomorrow.  All hotels ordered clossed.

We've rented an airbnb apartment for 2 weeks, looking for another to fill the gap.

Canadian consulate issued us a travel document to move location. They also recommended that airtransat has a flight leaving Sunday to Montreal, can't book online, probably full, but that we should go to the airport and see if there are any seats available?

I'm questioning the recommendation to go to a crowded airport for hours, possibly get on crowded plane flying home from infection hot spot?

We are going to hunker down over here and stay safe. Very unfortunate but it's the reality of the times we are living in.

Stay safe, stay isolated from people, be supportive of one another.

Gosh I sure miss hockey

Why did you wait until now? Things started getting bad in Spain at least 2 weeks back.

I’m just super excited that the super humans at Starbucks are there to serve up my triple espresso in the morning. I’m so sleep deprived that it’s crucial to my ability to function each day. :P

i get the idea of criticizing starbucks

because they are a bit silly

but i know that we all have a need

to have some sort of outlet

from the cabin fever that is beginning to build up in all of us

and it would be nice if some enterprises

could come up with some safe solution

that would allow us to go out

and engage in some recently normal practice

of grabbing a coffee from somewhere else

other then my kitchen counter top

i can keep up this discipline

and practice

but damn

a break in this solo routine would be welcome

and i respect all efforts by enterprise

to attempt to keep our recent normal routines

still possible

i live alone

i'm sure many are in my position

and we rely on getting out

for social stimulation

being home with only family can still be enriching

being home alone is not

i do appreciate the online social support we have

can't imagine if that were absent as well

but it is still not the same

as engaging with other humans

in a closer to face to face type contact

but these boards do provide relief

and i am happy to read your post

If CDC goes down I vote to start a Skype group. Everyone talk at the same time.

Found out my sister and her family most likely have Covid-19.  They are on 14 day self isolation.

She came in contact with a sick caregiver (I presume an elderly grandparent) in the last day of school before spring break.  The caregiver touched my sister's arm.

Can't understand why sick people go out when they should be staying  home.  I remember a co-worker gave me **** for coming in sick.  He said "Why are you here?" and he'd kill me if I got him sick.

i do not anticipate cdc going down

they might be open to facilitating cam connection among members ?

the concern would arise however

that this is not a very secure site

so maybe doing it using another method

is wiser

without being overly bleak or dark

if your family/extended family is young and in relative good health

there is some benefit to getting exposure early

and building up antibodies early

while there is ample capacity in the medical infrastructure

then their risk when this becomes a full on problem

is greatly reduced

don't go out and deliberately get the virus

but if one is forced to deal with it now or sooner

there still can be a bright side to that

I'm not too worried.   They are healthy.   Sister and husband in their 50's.  Kids are 10 to 25 yr range.  They have flu like symptoms.  Can't get tested as they don't have breathing difficulties.

Best thing I can do for them is buy groceries and stuff when needed.

cheers

speedy recovery to all

who may be unwell

it is a good idea

to be very detailed in assessing symptoms

before assuming the worst

there are many colds out there right now

and flu season is here too

having the sniffles is actually a decent sign (a cold symptom)

since that likely excludes covid-19

They have not been tested so how do you know they more than likely have it?

How can you not assume and take every precaution not to infect others. At this point always assume and never be neglectful because you could infect and potentially accidentally create a death. We all have to work together. They are doing the right thing. Assuming is the correct method at this point.

We basically have a rule in our office that if you’re sick, stay the f*** home.

We’re able to work from home so it’s much easier with deadlines. But getting everyone else sick would be more detrimental to our organization considering we’re a startup.

Actually, doctors have clearly advised people not to assume that because they are sick that it is the virus.  This doesn’t mean don’t self-isolate.  Assume if you want but probably avoid posting it.

I don't know for sure since they are not eligible to get tested since they do not have breathing difficulties.

They have taken their flu shots.  So unless the flu has mutated, then they most likely  have Covid-19.

All the best.

Spooky stuff. My brother -in-law was at the dental conference in Van that had covid. He is in isolation, he feels fine but my sister is sick. My mum in her 70's has had a upset stomach for a week, she never complains about anything so I am a bit concerned, They are all held up in the same household. My mum is spending her time working the phone to aid in scheduling emergency dental situations.

so if anyone needs some comfort

about how our governments and medical authorities are dealing with this crisis in canada

i strongly recommend viewing

the bc coronavirus daily updates

and the updates provided from time to time

by trudeau

the quality and tone of these messages

does provide comfort

and stark contrast

to what more seem to be viewing from the white house down south
