Hoglander's numbers have been deflated this season.

 

First - he's played on a line that is often divided off for matchup.....and has gotten under 50% ozone starts - not typical rookie minutes at the NHL level.

He's handled them like a boss - and has been excellent on both sides of the puck = leads the team with 36+ takeaways.

 

One of his linemates has underproduced - 16pts for Pearson hasn't exactly been conducive to Hoglander's production.

His team as a whole has struggled - spent a month in outbreak - has missed key players/centers throughout the season....and is a very young group for whom the lack of camp, preseason, and lack of practice time in-season - was not conducive to success.

 

25 of his 26 pts have come at even strength.

 

He's younger than most of the rest of the Calder field.

 

Not sure there's a rookie in the NHL I'd take over him.
