I suspect it's not a case where he earns the minutes, but that Boudreau just thinks he's our 2nd best d-man and we have no one else to take the minutes for him as the #2.

Exactly. No way he's a #2 on a team with a half-decent defense corps.

What if OEL, Myers, etc. all just look as bad as they do because our forwards dont play defense...

Our very loose forecheck definitely puts our D on their heels.  If we played a neutral zone trap our D would do a lot better.  Hard for any D man in this league to defend high speed, out numbered attacks.  NHL forwards are very skilled.

Agree 100%. Our D needs to get better defending the cycle for sure, but we're mostly getting burned off the rush by fast teams.

That Woodly guy on 650 said the highest danger chances are the ones off the rush where the D are forced to back in.  He said that opens up cross ice lanes and the goalie has to move a lot to cover.  Maybe, since we aren’t a very good team, we should be trapping?  We suffer defending the cycle too.  Our forwards are too high.  We need to drop our forwards lower in the D zone and only give up the board pass back to the D.  Often a bobble happens in that.  Plus, there are turnovers that lead to us getting odd man rushes.

pretty much we need to totally change how we play, so we are the club causing turnovers and creating odd man rushes.  And not by pressuring in the O zone.  That’s just forwards cheating.

Both OEL and Stillman were chasing the puck a lot in the d-zone last night. IMHO Rutherford's comment about structure was pretty accurate.

BB is playing or not playing a lot of guys well.

Burroughs has looked a lot better than both Stillman and Rathbone and he sits.

Stilman has been talked about to death already

OEL is being asked to take on the defensive bulwark because he can do it and so Hughes can look all flashy.

Lines that are hot get shuffled.

If the team could hold a multi-goal lead we would be in Vegas territory for wins.

Miller is a defensive black hole and is on the PK. Check the power play goal against today. He was so out of position it we stupid.

People on this board want goals from OEL but BB wants him to be D first, hold the line. OEL is getting little to no PP time and when he does he is getting short sniffs at it. Throw OEL on PP1 and Hughes on PP2.

I thought Burroughs had a solid game against Boston.

Are you sure OEL can take on the defensive duties? It sure doesn't seem like he's handling them very well (or at all).

How many goals against has he been on for? How many have goals against has he been on when Miller was also on the ice?

For example, last night on the PK, I think the second goal had OEL and Miller were defending. Miller lost his man and went down to block the shot but never got in front of the shot nor was he even in the lane.

Secondly, how much is systems, last year we had Walker and Shaw who are both good Defensive coaches. Now, we have Yeo and...

Surprised it sounds like he doesn't want to waive his NMC, you'd think he surely wants a shot at the cup? We could surely move his contract to a fringe playoff team with cap if we retained, otherwise he's going down with the ship and we have to treat him the way SJS treated Burns or Karlsson.

He seemed pretty dead set on just two teams when he was in Arizona so he likely doesn't want to leave now that he's finally in one of those two locations.

I'm happy to say I predicted that OEL would become Ericksson Mk2 within 2 years of aquiring him. Many predicted he'd regain his prior form. Never going to happen at that stage of his career. OEL alone is the mill stone hanging around the managements neck

I'm concerned for your mental well-being if you're happy with negative results.
