he also has played quite a bit on PP1, a lot more than the 3 you mentioned. Any player can put up points by standing in front of the net on a PP...I did playing as a kid, I was NOT the best skater but I knew how to position myself and put the round puck in the net... Bet ya I could do it for the Canucks if I had a stretch of games where I could park my 230lb ass in front and try to tip pucks and jam at loose pucks. Obviously I am not an NHL caliber hockey player like Chiasson, but it is stupid for us to be using him on PP1... But when you have a poor coaching staff with so much INexperience...this is what you get.

I mean we fired an EXPERIENCED PP coach in Newell Brown and hired an AHL coach to be our NHL PP specialist coach...seemed destined to be a disaster, but I can almost guarantee this PP will turn it around and King will look like a good coach once BB6 and EP40 start scoring and shooting instantly like PODZ last night and not stopping the puck or double clutching before taking the shot

Go for it. You might find the puck travels a bit faster than when you were a kid.

Dickinson looks fine to me.

Doesn't give up much 5-on-5, strong on the puck. Good positioning.

Offensively not very imaginative but that's not his strong suit anyways.

There are only two guys that I have been unimpressed with: Chiasson and Lammikko.

The 4th line is almost always hemmed in our zone. I'd like a 4th line that bangs the body more and bring energy but they suck energy out.

Lammikko is as advertised I guess, he's relatively low event player. Chiasson is PP specialist and I wonder if such role is really needed on the team. Miller's a big body that's hard to move. He could be the net front presence.

I'd bring Lockwood up and try to get Bailey-Lammikko-Lockwood to play together and see what happens.

Lockwood has only played two games in Abby, he might be injured.

I don't agree. EP looks stronger and still has speed but his timing is off. Probably a combination of rust and lack of confidence.

That he hasn't put in the off-season work is pure speculation. He doesn't look fatigued and works hard on the back check as usual so I don't buy the lack of training or effort arguments.

EP has pretty much started slow each pro season including SHL except for his NHL rookie season. He needs to be better and missing camp was bad, but signs are he's playing himself into form. A few lucky bounces and a few more games and hopefully things will look better.

Im not saying he did nothing, but you can tell who showed up having put in a massive offseason. Hughes had no rust to shake off, he showed up and immediately played better than he was playing last year. I doubt that was a fluke - it probably took a ton of offseason effort (probably helps that hes also got 2 incredibly skilled siblings also trying to be better).

The fact that Petey is rusty means its likely he didnt do as much as others in the offseason. Slipping and falling more than most means he probably spent less time on his skates than most.

But I dont think he sat around eating cheeseburgers either. Just probably didnt do as much as guys like Hughes. Even look at Hamonic - was off for even longer than Petey, and showed up looking leaner and sharper than he did last year, right out of the gate.

I feel like this is a misconception. Average NHL height has actually increased over the years (2020 still being just above 73 inches). What we don't see anymore is the oversized 4th line fighter, but that size difference has probably been offset by the increase in goalie size. Otherwise, we have always had small players in the league (Theo Fleury for example).

True, people don't realize how much smaller guys were in the older days. Pete Mahovlich (6'5") was basically Chara in the 60s and 70s.

That said, it's worthy of note that the average height hasn't really increased over the past 25 years or so, so there's definitely a change in the trend.

I am guessing the 'average' height has not increased due to an increase in smaller forwards playing regular hockey.

The median height could see an increase, given the overall increase in height for all players (greater spectrum).

It's the reason I am more interested in median house prices, rather than average. If not properly accounted for, outliers effect the average significantly.

Praying that game was they're galvanizing moment.

Agreed. Big, emotional win in front of the home crowd in OT against a good team. Demko saving their asses late in the third with some of best goaltending I've ever seen. If they can't come together over that, I don't think they can come together over anything.

Demko was the only reason they won. Period. I haven't seen goaltending like that since Luongo was in his prime.

There doesn't need to be a "galvanizing" moment, imo.  They had a decent road trip, them a CPL stinkers at home, where they were obviously exhausted. The game against the Oilers was a pretty solid game, despite the lack of offense and the Rangers game built off the Oilers one.

If the PP were generating anything at all, there'd be no issue, whatsoever.

Both the mean and median have their weaknesses and it's wise to take both into account.

Soon we have to thank Benning and Gillis both.

we'll see you on the bandwagon? Sorry but this team has way too much talent and more on the way so we can have depth for it, that's a thing.. this franchise has never had that EVER in a sell the farm for a cup mentality that got us how far exactly? let's see..  wait.. wait.. exactly zero cups..

At least JB is doing something, but it was MG signing all those longterms that killed it for us until NOW, for once. does it need work and development? certainly but at least we have a team now that just needs playing time together and further development of guys like Klimovich but it's coming... and NOT thanks to MG.. thank fuc_ that's over with!
