Locking him long term is not a guarantee and in today's environment, players even in rfa have a lot of power in where they go. This ain't the nhl if yesteryear. It is trending heavily toward the nba. Secondly, if he is still with the Hawks, they might not be in their leading position to get Bedard. Dach don't exist in a vacuum there unless he got a season ending injury.
