There wasn't any extension in place either with Horvat but Lamoriello made the deal because he was confident he could get one done.

True, but isn’t Meier an RFA, so Jersey knows they have him at his QO? Bo was a coming UFA. Sign him or lose him.

Was that ever offered though? It takes two to tango.

I'm saying if they'd waited and got some leverage, his price might have gone up and if LouLam went another path, perhaps that's the kind of deal they could have made for Bo to a team who was feeling under the gun

I'm happy with Raty and happy with the first, but I feel they could have played their hand a little better.

Lol if Alvin waited this long, Lou wouldn't have traded for Horvat to begin with knowing Barzal is now injured and out for the rest of the season.

Exactly.  Thank you for speaking with some rational logic.

Why would you even want Kotkaniemi on that drag of a contract?

Because he's  a good player who will almost certainly outplay his contract, he's 22 and it's a very buyout friendly deal if you can't move it.

I honestly don’t think you’re getting much of a better deal for a pending UFA.  Meier, who I think is a better player, is a RFA, so at minimum NJD is guaranteed to retain his rights.

Yeah but if they waited maybe they would have gotten a worse deal. Last year was a good example. They waited and pretty much nothing happened.

The last thing the team needed was Bo to walk for nothing.

Meh, tired of this subject to be honest.  Lol. But I was thinking the other day, maybe an additional, conditional pick could of been invloved if Bo extended  with the Isles.

They had the best chip in the game.  Given what you've seen, you think that was absolute best they could have had for him?

I dont think it's a bad deal, I just think they could have done better given that Horvay was the best piece out there
