But that doesn't mean they should just go out and replace a big contract with a bigger one just because they have a little room

I agree they will likely hold onto him, but there's certainly opportunity to use him as a high value asset

At some point you have to build on what you have especially if the cap goes up.

Yup, the Senators have the toughest remaining schedule, while we have the second easiest remaining schedule.

And Colorado has the easiest remaining schedule and Hughes’s NHL record for fastest to 200 career assists by a dman is in jeopardy. Makar has 23 to go to and has 31 games to tie Hughes or 30 to break it…. Colorado has 14 games remaining and 7 of those are against lotto teams…..

Yet another in the column of Canuck Luck.

In the department of Sour Grapes, imagine if we'd been in a playoff spot now, and had this schedule. Be able to solidify and maybe move up from here.  Of course its only in years we need to win almost every game that we have a tough schedule to end the season.

I thought I read that Makar is injured, again.

At the end of the day, why not simply appreciate each & every game that one can? Having watched this team since they were absolutely dreadful(first 2 decades), can't remember us having so many amazing assets(young-ish side).

The excitement growing feels a similar vibe to the 1990-92 yrs, when an optimistic outlook was FINALLY taking hold. Perhaps 20 yrs of waiting back in 1990, is the SAME as a decade of waiting in the instantaneous, digital world of today? They tol' me "time is money"..now experts are saying soon, fiat is tp...

If TD were healthy, we'd be WC/PO-bound. Would say about 80% of the games this season have been enjoyable viewing too! Use whatever r____ word the masses want, I'm seeing a roster that's rejuvenated.

Useless stat in isolation. What is percentage of players from outside of North America and what percentages are in leadership groups.
Definite bias towards NA captains because of language.

So the percentage cap winning captains aver the last 12 years essentially mirrors the percentage of non NA players. Nice to debunk that fiction.
