DrJockitch
I want to see us: Take a 1 or 2 year LTIR contract. No chance of us accruing cap this year. Not likely to be that good a team next couple years and so not being able to go nuts at the deadline would be great. Get in on one of these cap strapped teams an weaponize our cap to shake a young D or C loose. Weaponize our cap to trade one of our wingers on a bad contract for a better C or D on a similarly bad contract. (ie a centre that makes 1-2 million more than should for a winger that makes 1-2 more). This was the Boeser for Johansen idea. Overpriced winger for overpriced centre that costs more. Use cap space to pay the position premium. Go after unsigned prospects and Euro UFAs like last year to get free prospects. Only go after UFAs on short, reasonable deals. Don't do what we know PA will do and sign Barbashev to a deal that is too long and too big only to discover he is really just another winger.
Nucker 67
Would be kind of funny (to see reactions on here) if MTL then turned around and made a trade with VAN to MTL - Miller, and #11 to VAN - Newhook, Hoffman (for cap) and #

Given the premium on cap space, that will be interesting to track as we approach the draft and UFA It would be such a waste if we squander the buyout flexibility on a couple UFAs and called it a day. Time to weaponize that cap. Let's actually use some of the tools at our disposal other than overpaying players for what they did for other teams.

The only trades so far have been giving players away with retention.
amplified0ne
With the rumours that the Canucks like a number of prospects and the rumours a few months ago, feels like we may trade down if teams go off the board ahead of pick 11. Nashville, Chicago or Buffalo maybe?

KoreanHockeyFan
I know Allvin said earlier today he plans to stick with the 11th pick, but... To CLB: Miller Rathbone or Hoglander 11th pick To VAN: 3rd pick (Leo Carlsson) Bean or Peeke One can only dream... Used one the first chance he got. He "expects" to stay at 11, he may not.

Kobayashi Maru
Would still be in the camp of Miller and Rathbone to Car for Kotkaniemi, Morrow and a late 1st. If we drafted Danielson and Strbak then we’d have C and RD depth of: C: Pettersson Kotkanieni Danielson Raty RD: Hronek Morrow Strbak Johansson Creates competition and works for me! Provost
We don't seem to ever do THE thing.... I live in eternal hope for the thing, but it doesn't materialize. Instead we do "a" thing, which generally involves a disappointing lack of thing-ness.

cripplereh
I'd be fishing right now calling 7 to 10 teams asking about players. Call back an hour later and make a deal on a 3C and D. Do not wait it out as a couple trades so far could have helped us.

That being said, you have no idea what will transpire between now and when the draft starts tomorrow. None. Outside of Vintage, no one here really has any clue what will occur.
