-Sedins looking confused. Saucer passes not connecting/Null offensive explosion/ No magic sedinery with Hansen or Burrows

-Kesler somethings not right. Can't score/no grind to his game/Looks lost No confidence

-Burrows mediocre play/ Can't utilize his full potential unless playing with the Sedins/

I've been watching these players with the precision of an eagle eye. Thus far I have seen nothing that jumps out at me. Kesler should be stealing the show and coming into his own as a huuuuuuge superstar by now. The Sedins consistency is starting to become inconsistent. I'm starting to panic and the fact Tortorella is the coach hasn't alleviated my worries.

The one player that has me dazzled me is Santorelli. Again I'm absolutely flustered we didn't go after some more legit scoring FA's like a Brunner/Boyes/Jagr/Cooke

I agree with you but it might just be a slow start. Many teams have them and it is just the pre season so there should be nothing to worry about. The prospects aside from Horvat have looked underwhelming though.

He's out for 6 months (which will hinder his development) and he really needs that development. There's already worries that he won't translate to the NHL and he'll end up a huge ass bust.

Legit scoring FA and those four names shouldn't be in the same sentence.

I agree with you on Kesler. It's been three years we saw beat mode and perhaps that was the last time we'll ever see it. If halfway into the season Kesler is still diving, not passing and generally doesn't show up the way he himself expects let alone fans and the team, ten perhaps parting ways might be a great idea.

It might land is a true 1D in Weber or a very good package of plenty, especially combined with let's say Booth... She's millions and open the book to trade for great help.

Also, the Canucks' needs are merely theoretical at this point since we haven't seen them play within the new division. Playing L.A., San Jose, Anaheim and a rising Phoenix, as well as a nameless Calgary team, which could be very dangerous, and a young up and coming Oilers team; playing them often throughout the season will definitely shed light on matters of need.

Burrows to NYC for Del Zotto.

You figured all that out just by watching a few preseason games? If you've been watching the team for awhile, then you should know that a slow start is their usual way. Give them 15-20 games and come back and comment.

BTW the Nuck caphit is the reason for the lack of goal scoring FA. Who wouldn't want Brunner, Jagr, Boyles and NOT Cooke?

You realize they haven't seen game action in over three months right? Preseason is there for all sports leagues for all the athletes to get used to game speed and just warming up their old reflexes again. Chill out. Don't go jumping on Luongo or Lack for letting in a bunch of goals. Like Luongo said in his post game interview against the Oilers, he didn't give a rat's ass about the goals being let in, rather he was caring about getting his timing correct again and getting used to the speed of NHL hockey.

It's called preseason.

Yes, timing's a little off.

Yes, a little rusty after the summer...they're Dads and likely don't have the same time to commit to the offseason fitness as a result. Their wives do get to have them for some portion of the year, so let's cut them a little slack?

I'll get back to this thread later....don't have time for negativity as the season's about to begin....

Meanwhile, the old men on the Sharks just spanked us.

Meanwhile the Canucks had 3 raw junior players in their second game in a row, a defense that wasn't an NHL d, and a rookie goalie, who hasn't played since last November. What is your point? That Sharks team was fully loaded from the goalie out.

It's the pre-season

Why waste energy for nothing games...if they are still not trying by the playoffs then you can be concerned.

Fringe players and rookies are the only ones you should worry about.

The pre-season is simply a show case for the players trying to make the team.

It is a known fact the owners wanted more money making opportunities while show casing potential future marketing gems - while giving the fans a look see at new comers.

It's a genius marketing ploy, most veterans just wait for the games that are worth points, then later a chance at a cup.

Although I like to watch the new players myself personally I would never spend a dime to watch meaningless games.

I love hockey I love the Canucks but I love what little money I have more.

They are rusty, haven't played in 4 months since being eliminated, chemistry, timing and consistency will need some time.

Why the preseason basically means nothing:

2008 Detroit Lions preseason record: 4-0.
2008 Detroit Lions regular season record: 0-16.

This should sum it up rather succinctly.

The pre-season excuse comes up now. At the end of the season we blame the fact that the players spent the season getting used to Tortorella's system, slow starters etc. This board will never come to terms with the fact that our window is closed. This generation Flames-esque end draws closer with every second this franchise remains in denial.

It's preseason man. The only players that really care about preseason games are the players that are trying to make the team. Also I wouldn't be surprised if we start out slow because of the new coach/system.

By your logic Horvat's showing all signs that he won't be able to finish on his scoring chances as an NHL'er because he hasn't scored a goal yet in the preseason.

OMGGGGG I almost forgot! Cooke definitely would have solved all of these problems you're claiming we have....

Want me to come over and rock your cradle for you?

Bieksa, Garrison, Kassian, Booth and Higgins weren't playing against the Sharks.

Although I do think we need to add someone new into our top 6.

Package up Shroeder and Jensen with a veteran for a legit young top 6 player.

I thought the Sedins have actually looked very impressive, even in comparison to regular season play. They just haven't been able to score that often.
