I believe a lot of people are missing a great point. Schneider save percentage is .988 with one goal against. What some people don't realize is if you take away luongo first 12 shots against Edmonton when they got 4 goals and we look at his pre season from that stand point on. Luongo has only let 1 goal against on 78 shots. Want to make a guess at what that save percentage works out to .988, just saying.

Lu's a winner. He will have his ups and downs. That's just how he is. Sometimes he'll have a really bad a game, but the good thing about him is that it doesn't spiral out of control for an entire season. He can bounce back in a game or two and be lights out. Lu is a fighter and he never gives up.

His real save percentage for the preseason is .938. Pretty good considering the only guy with a better save percentage who's faced more shots than him is Schneider.

It's not a great point, it's a useless "what if" stat.

Awwwww! (OP, shoulders slouched, looking all sullen and dejected, slips quietly away.)

Seriously, though, the 'real' stats listed above don't look a lot less impressive, to be honest.

Edit... as far as meaningless preseason snapshots go, that is.

If you take away all the goals Luongo let in, he has a save % of 1.000.

Makes statistics kind of pointless if you add bias to them by taking out the parts that don't prove your case.

That said, his 0.938 does give me some solid comfort.

OMG I just realized something if you take out the 4 goals by the Bruins in game seven we might have won the Cup !

If only we could have done that...we would have been the greatest Dynasty in of all time.

WhatchewTalkin'Bout Willis? We didn't score a single goal in Game 7. It would have been tied at that point?

Why would you take away his first 12 shots against Edmonton though? You can't just erase that.

Both Lack and Luongo had a bad game, and both had great games during the pre-season.

Luongo could get 10 shutouts in a row, and fans would still be watching Devils games and whining every time he played great.

That'll be around 15-20 games. If he isn't good in that amount of games Devils are in trouble.

One thing I am curious about is how many single shots did Corey face? NJ is a defence orientated team and I am sure tons of those shots are low quality, and very few if any second chance shots.

Why are you kids comparing Luongo to Schneider's performance? You should feel lucky Luongo is still willing to play for us after all that has happened. You think Luongo wants to play for Vancouver? No.

Schneider can have godlike performances in NJ for all I care. Luongo can play like Luongo in Vancouver, and I am totally happy with that.

Preseason is unimportant. Let's see if Luongo can replicate that .938 Sv% to finish a postseason, then we can all be really impressed.

Another meaningless thread comparing Schneid to Lou.

"Breaking news Schneids likes a double cheeseburger Lou likes a big mac. Did we keep the wrong goalie?"
