(Rumour) Burke, Benning and Botterill in running for GM Job

Linden to start interviews for GM2014-05-01Benning, Burke and Botterill on list.

Today (May 1), Trevor Linden said that he has interviews for a GM set to begin next week and the he should have a GM in place in the next 30 days. He wants someone from a winning organization, who can evaluate talent and wants to play exciting hockey. Jim Benning, Tim Burke and Jason Botterill are believed to be on Linden's list.

I'm not sure he fits with the,"Someone from a winning organization", part of what Linden is looking for.

Trev will pick the best candidate for this position. He's giving the media a bit of fodder right now. What exactly does "winning organization" mean? People need to understand that Trev doesn't just need a good GM, he needs a guy that's going to stay subordinate to him in the hockey ops structure. The last thing we want here is something resembling a Lafontaine/Murray fiasco.

Benning is a great candidate, but he's not going to be available until after the draft according to news outlets. Unless we can get the B's to change their stance on that a little bit, we're not going to be able to get him over here.

What other candidates are there from so-called "winning organization" and what is your definition of a winning organization?
