-Vintage Canuck-
Florida Panthers Acquire F Jaromir Jagr: SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has acquired F Jaromir Jagr from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Florida’s second-round draft pick in 2015 and a conditional third-round draft pick in 2016. Jagr, 43, ranks first among active National Hockey League leaders in points (1,784), games played (1,530), assists (1,068), goals (716), plus/minus (+284) and power play goals (202). Among all-time NHL leaders, he ranks first in game-winning goals (127), fifth in points, sixth in goals, seventh in assists and 13th in games played. The 21-year NHL veteran has played for Pittsburgh, Washington, the New York Rangers, Philadelphia, Dallas, Boston and New Jersey. Jagr notched 15-straight 70-plus point seasons from 1992 to 2008, which stands as an NHL record. Jagr earned 50 or more points in 18 consecutive seasons, before recording 35 points during the 48-game 2012-2013 season. He again eclipsed the 50-point mark in 2013-2014 registering 67 points with New Jersey. This season, Jagr has recorded 11 goals with 18 assists in 57 games played for the Devils. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound forward won back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1991 and 1992. Jagr has recorded 78 goals and 121 assists in 202 career playoff contests. The Kladno, Czech Republic, native was the recipient of the 1998-1999 Hart Memorial Trophy as the player adjudged most valuable to his team, and is a five-time winner of the Art Ross Trophy, as the league’s scoring champion. Jagr was named to the NHL’s First All-Star Team seven times, the 1996-1997 Second All-Star Team and the 1990-1991 All-Rookie Team, while appearing in nine NHL All-Star Games. Jagr has also been named a finalist for the 2013-14 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, which is awarded "to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey." With the addition of Jagr, the Panthers current roster consists of six players who have won the Stanley Cup, including F Dave Bolland, D Brian Campbell, F Tomas Kopecky, D Willie Mitchell and F Shawn Thornton. Jagr was drafted by Pittsburgh with their first choice (fifth overall) in the 1990 NHL Draft. On the international stage, Jagr has represented the Czech Republic in five Winter Olympic Games, winning a Gold Medal in 1998 and a Bronze Medal in 2006. He also represented his country at two World Cup of Hockey tournaments, the 1991 Canada Cup, nine World Championships (including 2014) and the 1990 World Junior Championships. Jagr is one of only two Czech-born players (Jiri Slegr) to win an Olympic Gold Medal, World Championship Gold Medal and Stanley Cup. Between NHL stints, he spent three seasons, 2008-2009 through 2010-2011, with Avangard Omsk (KHL). http://panthers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=755328

VegasCanuck
I'm not sure I would have given up a 2nd rounder this year for someone who's 43. He can still perform, but will likely retire this year.

Master Mind
Wow, I figured the Panthers would have only traded for long term players. Well, I suppose Jagr might be capable of that Hope the Panthers can push out the Bruins for that final playoff spot.
