Nail Posted May 14, 2015 Share Posted May 14, 2015 as per Canucks Twitter Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the Canucks have signed defenceman Jordan Subban. Subban, 20, recently completed his fourth season playing for the OHL Belleville Bulls. This season, Subban set new career-highs and finished first on the team in goals (25), powerplay goals (8), and points (52) in 63 games played. His 25 goals on the year are the most by a Belleville Bulls defenceman in a single season in franchise history. Subban also finished ranked eighth amongst OHL defencemen in scoring (25-27-52). The Rexdale, Ontario native has appeared in 253 OHL regular season games with the Belleville Bulls collecting 165 points (57-108-165) and 203 penalty minutes. The 59, 185-pound defenceman was selected 115th overall by Vancouver in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. JamesB Posted May 14, 2015 Share Posted May 14, 2015 Knew it, there's no way Linden and Benning would let this guy go. Still wouldn't surprise me to see Subban traded to Montreal. In general "sign and trade" deals are for some reason thought to be kind of "tacky", but not if that is what the player wants. And I would guess that Subban would like to go to Montreal. But, if not, he will get a chance to show what he can do at the pro level in Utica next year. Elite Prospects is as up-to-date as any source on player size and they still have him at 5-9. At age 20 he is not likely to get any taller, but it could happen. Hard to see a 5-9 D-man making it in the NHL. Not impossible, but hard. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
