US election 2020: Kanye West launches unconventional bid for presidency https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-53467658 At one point he began crying when talking about abortion, saying that his parents almost aborted him: "There would have been no Kanye West, because my dad was too busy." He added: "I almost killed my daughter... even if my wife [Kim Kardashian West] were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world, even when I didn't want to." However he then added that he believes abortion should remain legal, but there should be financial support for struggling new mothers - suggesting that "everybody that has a baby gets a million dollars". ........................ He becomes POTUS and I am heading south to have a baby! I hope West’s daughter is being protected from this whole circus. A seven year old girl shouldn’t have to hear that her father didn’t want her and would have had her aborted. thedestroyerofworlds
I figured this fit more in this thread as it pertains to the campaign. It's getting close to the point where actual voting begins. Biden and co. have been working and releasing platform positions and will announce the VP candidate, while TRUMP's campaign has been flailing around trying to release a message that resonates. In some cases, they've stopped airing ads while they retool their messaging. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/08/03/trump-campaign-point-of-no-returtn-389707 Trump campaign nears point of no return Early voting begins in several key swing states next month, leaving a ‘dwindling window of time’ for the president to turn the race around. He wished Maxwell well which I thought was strange, even for him. Biden creeps me out though. Those videos of him hugging and smelling kids hair is revolting. Also blame the electorate for choosing Biden over anyone else.

RUPERTKBD
It's not a case of "dislike" with Sanders, it's a case of policies. Sanders' is just too extreme to win a general election and Democratic delegates know it. They went with the "safe" choice, Biden, because he's a middle of the road candidate with a lot of experience in government. He's also very popular among African American voters. If Sanders had won the nomination,we'd be seeing ad after ad, talking about how he is going to turn the US into a "Socialist country". Venezuela will be the go to example for GOP politicians and the sad fact is, American voters would buy it. All those fence sitters in swing states that pushed Trump to his narrow victory in 2016 would vote for him again and he'd win again. A move as far left as Bernie's platform is, would be just too far to swing in a single election cycle. Heck, Bernie's "Bros" couldn't even be bothered to show up to vote for him in the primaries. What makes anyone think it would be different in a general election? It's just too big a chance for the Dems to take, when Job One is ousting Trump. Joe Biden might not inspire us....and his handsy nature is unfortunate. (and yes, a bit creepy) He may not be the best choice for President, but he is the best choice for defeating Donald Trump. He will check a few of the "Liberal" boxes.....Climate Change will once again be a priority.....healthcare will be protected and expanded.....tax cuts for the wealthy will stop....he will restore the USA's International reputation and allies will cease to be treated like enemies. (and vice versa) .....we can worry about the other stuff in 4 years...

His thesis goes against everything they stand for which is the neoliberalism perpetuated since Clinton. That said, your reasoning still stands with regards to this election. Maybe some do, but he was leading the nomination race for a while, so he does have broad support. His ideas are too radical for the mainstream Dems, but it doesn't mean that they wouldn't support his policies, if they were implemented in a more gradual manner. Before that can happen, America needs to learn the difference between Socialism and Communism.....

Once we seize the means of production then we're talking about socialism in my eyes. The states should start with universal healthcare, and a federal wide minimum wage. I think fairly reasonable and still far from socialism and communism.

I believe America's insistence that institutions like hospitals and prisons turn a profit, needs to be addressed before programs like Universal Healthcare can be implemented.
