There's a number of contracts that are unlikely to be here after the summer.

Eriksson

Sutter

Roussel

Leivo

Baertschi

It will work out

I can't see all of them being gone, but 3/5 would work.

Maybe. Unless Raff steps in and Joulevi turns out. We’ve made a coupe trades now. I love both of them but JB is going to have to be diligent going forward. There’s free agency coming as well.
JV and Bess still have loads of potential. I wouldn’t move them

Still need a RD upgrade long term IMO if we can. Even with those guys. Tanev's not going to last forever.

Boeser though...I honestly COULD see him moving at some point IF the price is right.  But then the price for a league wide top end RW isn't cheap so who knows.

Gotta give the kid a couple years in my opinion. 23 years old, has had some tough breaks. Hard to buy goal scoring.

Barrie deal fell apart because of the following per twitter

- TOR see's Stecher as 3rd pair dman

- Wanted to get longer term asset from VAN incase they can't reach an agreement with Stecher and have to let him walk.

TOR gonna lose him anyway so what they have to lose lol

Fair enough. Gotta be another avenue. Those 2 are just too young. Could be great players for the next 10

years

Sure, but if Virtanen keeps developing and Boeser comes back to being Boeser and we re-sign Toffoli...there's not roster space or cap space for all three long term (beyond next year). And so long as we have replacements coming in in the way of Hogz, Podz and Lind...

And you have to give to get. A young, top, right side D is not going to come for scraps. That D could be great for the next 10+ years too.

yup.

Dubie hasn't done anything of consequence yet. I don't see them getting past Florida if they don't make a serious move in the next hour.

Before Brock was Hurt and JV was still scoring JB was said a number of times they want another top 6 forward.. if that trade like that happens it’s probably not going to be this summer. At least a year or two away. JB better be damn sure what he has before he makes a trade like that

He also said he wouldn't have made Toffoli trade if Boeser wasn't hurt.

It's probably a longer term deal than this summer, yes. But if we re-sign Toffoli and a top, young, RD is available...I sure wouldn't say no to this summer either.

That's great news, if true.

Yup. If the Canucks really have eyes on Barrie, they should just hold out for free agency.

Take whatever assets they were willing to sacrifice for a Barrie trade, and convert them into sweeteners to accomplish the necessary cap dumps on players that are currently dragging down our salary situation.

Then use the cap space gained to re-sign Toffoli and add Barrie via free agency (especially if the rumours are true and Barrie really wants to come here and will take a home town discount).

Re-sign Tanev and our RFA forwards, and look to trade rights on any players we’re moving on from, to add picks or move up spots at the draft.

And while we’re at it, re-sign Marky on a fairly generous one-year deal, with the promise of a long term extension, to be signed after the expansion draft. Protect Demko, and leave Marky exposed, but as a UFA (since he’d actually have to agree to sign a deal with Seattle—which seems highly unlikely under those circumstances—for us to lose him to the expansion draft).

After all that, with our bad contracts finally off the books (and hopefully no new ones added), we should still have enough cap space to deal with the coming extensions on our young core pieces.
