Big thanks to our commissioners for your dedicated work!
Also, thanks to all GMs who made sure the draft kept going at a nice pace! I must also say kudos to your picks! Some surprising names who I am looking forward to see if called today in the real draft.
PS: Also, my opinion is this year´s format worked well and we have been done in less than a week. Me, personally, I like it!
Welcome the 2021 NHL draft class to the Shark territory!

First of all, thank you all for your congratulations! This league is so good, awesome commissioners, active and knowledgeable GMs! That´s also why Sharks are so humble and happy to win it! As I mentioned on discord we needed some luck this year. If Boston or NY Islanders are in "our" conference we are not making aggressive trades before the deadline (they too strong!). There are up and rising teams in the West right now though and it was fun to battle it out this year in all rounds against Colorado, Los Angeles, Ottawa and finally Boston. We are excited to battle again next season, I feel like more contenders are coming! Lastly, Blake Coleman is my hero. Also thanks to NY Rangers for giving us few more final games of experience out of Tyler Johnson!
It is so funny to win the league and have almost nobody to talk to about it and to celebrate with. My girlfriend told me "congratulations", though. She usually gets mad when I talk about my fantasy team. I am telling her "Love, I have 6 million to spend below of my budget of 81.5 million, I need an advice." She goes: "What? You have 81.5 million and you are giving me nothing?!"
Followed by announced trades we made (Erik Čerňák, welcome to the San Jose!) this is our list of protected players for the expansion draft:
G Juuse Saros
D Erik Čerňák
D Justin Holl
D MacKenzie Weegar
F Andre Burakovsky
F Blake Coleman
F Joel Eriksson Ek
F Roope Hintz
F Jesperi Kotkaniemi
F Nino Niederreiter
F Alex Tuch
Hey, Seattle, take your time, we are mentally ready to have one of our good player being stolen by you. Good luck in your inaugural season!

Which also matches the points above by Pmalina, that D are impacted less. There are some high volume D SOG players. My team would be down with the rule change currently. I have a lot of play off team players, who inherently lose more than others on + / -
This would even it out.
As an aside, I have never seen a penalty drawn reward in a hockey pool. Aside from the test Fantrax > I would have no idea where to look? Although I did just sign Arvid Costmar.
Unfortunatelly it seems like forwards would benefit even more by having shots on goal multiplied by .25!
Top 14 skaters in shots on goal leaderboard are forwards and only 3 Ds are in top 42. :/

Plus/minus and Hat Tricks have been removed, with Shots on Goal added (worth 0.1) and Penalties Drawn (worth 0.75).
Values to be determined, if we even make changes at all. This is so that everyone can see how potential changes could impact player values.
Be sure to take a look at this relatively soon, as we don't plan on keeping the test league up forever. If there's anything else you'd like to see tested, let us know.

I believe the changes made are mostly for good! Some feedback for impact on my team:
INFO ONE
Weak team plus minus players average now 12 PTS more
Strong team plus minus players average now 2.5 PTS more
Removing plus minus is good!
INFO TWO
My forwards average now 6.1 PTS more
My defenders average now 3.7 PTS more
My goalies average now 0 PTS more
The changes benefit forwards overall (I guess added stats are more likely being accumulated by them). So I reviewed an overall balance among positions as a last step.
INFO THREE
Share of players by position out of top 800 scoring players is: 8.5% of goalies, 32.4% of defenders and 59.1% of forwards. These are shares by position if we rank players:
Top 100: 8% - 19% - 73% (goalies - defenders - forwards)
101-200: 11% - 34% - 55%
201-300: 9% - 29% - 62%
301-400: 7% - 35% - 58%
401-500: 11% - 34% - 55%
501-600: 9% - 29% - 62%
601-700: 10% - 37% - 53%
701-800: 3% - 42% - 55%
Goalies seem to be quite evenly distributed. Forwards occupy too many spots in Top 100 with 7 being at the very top. Only 2 defenders made it to top 29!
GWG, SHP, OG are all stats benefiting forwards in my view (newly added PD might as well). Or shall we search for ways how to support D more? Just a small change might be needed. What do you guys think?

Lucas Raymond (LW/RW)
It is that time of year (hopefully even in this weird year) that we can be proud of our prospects for going to the WJC! Woooo!
We should also not forget about those who are eligible to go but failed to impress. Shout out to my group of shames, namely:
Donovan Sebrango, Alex Campbell, Jake Neighbours, Tristen Robins (all CAN), Alexander Pashin (RUS), Domenick Fensore, Jayden Struble, Wyatt Kaiser, Eamon Powell (all USA), Joni Jurmo (FIN)
Total of ten prospects speak about inability of Puck´s Sharks GM. GM pmalina was asked about this but refused to put himself in a hot seat: "In my job I follow the best of the best in the NHL. We look at rankings, predict what NHL GMs will do at draft table. All of these kids were drafted in a real life. All of them! And that´s what matters. We did good! And so if these guys appear to be busts now, fine but don´t blame me."

Lots of contradictory scouting reports of Zlodeyev. Some say he is physical, some say he tends away from contact, some say he is weak in battles while others contend he is exceptional in that department, another source thinks he is a top six centre playmaker, while others think he is a bottom six energy spark plug.
Seems like not much consensus on what he is, I'm intrigued how he develops.
I´ve got some data on him that might help.
- he is a frequent hitter
- he wins a fair share of challenges on the ice for a forward
- he accumulated fine pass accuracy in the MHL
- he does not shoot or assist on shots from a slot often (explains a bit his fine pass accuracy as he takes more safe passes)
- he recorded a high share of controlled transitions (esp. zone entries) at the last Hlinka Cup
And most importantly and to prove he better be the "steal" of the draft his surname refers to "stealing" directly.

Dmitri Zlodeyev Picked 122knd overall -53 Went 175th I like this pick tho, not just because Canucks picked...
Karel Klikorka Picked 128th Overall Oomph Not drafted & I teased @pmalina that I stole his pick
Oskar Magnusson Picked 130th overall -81 At least he went? 211 to Washington
The good? This prospect went in the 1st round with our last pick!
Yegor Chinakhov Picked 151st overall + 130
Haha, I don´t mind Klikorka. He is dominant but so slow. I was dressing Chinakhov to be picked with my last (156) pick though. And then it all happened.
