    I feel like Boeser will be re-signed on day 1 of the season. Roussel can be moved to LTIR and the Canucks can then spend over the cap as much as his cap hit.

      I believe they are allowed to go over the cap during the off-season, as long as they are compliant by the time the season starts.

      They have to be under the cap (no LTIR) at the end of the day, the day before the season starts. Players can be put on LTIR, on day 1 or later, I believe. 

       

      The Canucks could also assign some players to Utica, who are not waiver eligble, in a "paper transaction" and then put them back on the roster on day 1, after Roussel is moved to LTIR.

      According to this players can be put on LTIR in the off season as long as there's proof that they will continue to need LTIR for 10 games/24 days after the season starts.

      So we should, if needed, be able to put Roussel on LTIR and have him stay on LTIR on Day 1 of the season

    I feel like we haven't seen the last of Alex Chaisson. It definitely wouldn't be the first time he went the PTO route.

      Only problem I have with Chaisson is when Bruce slots him on PP1. We have a ton of options now. Would rather see a bump from Podkolzin

      At the very least, if he doesn't sign elsewhere in the NHL, Johnson should be looking to sign this guy to Abbotsford.  He would provide great veteran leadership.

      ^ LOL did you watch the fight? I am not trying to be bias because I like him but he got his ass handed to him. He got one clean shot in at the beginning then it was all Guddy. Kass was never a great fighter just dominated smaller younger guys in the OHL and looked mean with a good frame.

      I did watch it. What I saw was a complete show of strength in Guddy, but it looked more like Kassian slipped instead of taking the knee-buckle shot, and Guddy may have hit him hard on the side of his helmet as he wrestled him to the ice. 

       

      I like Gudbranson more than Kassian, but this was a wrestling match won by Guddy, not an ass serving.

    I really see pulling the goaltender as fatal. Its Hari Kari! Winning or even tying the game seems more likely 5-on-5 or whatever scenario that keeps the goalie in the net. I think just the number of shorthanded goals against versus the (zero) number of goals scored with the goaltender pulled should be somewhat evident.

      I don't agree with it. I think it should be a 1:00 minute drill, and only for the last minute. 

      But our defensive play is sloppy so it's a very risky gamble.
