мeтpо
Exactly. He's a complementary player. The Sedins are not. If the Sedins were complementary players on the Hawks, how would Chicago do? Defense makes your pants too wet.

The Lock
As far as the actual topic goes, I would chose the Sedins simply because they are a unit togher. Hossa and Gaborik would need a centre, an actual 3rd player to make them any good. With the Sedins you just need to have a 3rd player playing with them and magic will likely happen anyway. Look at the situation in Columbus. They had Nash and other good winger but they could never get anywhere without a quality centre. If Hossa and Gaborik were there they would likely still have issues. If the Sedins were there, they'd likely be a better team. Teams have proven that without a legitimate centre for your wingers, your team will be in trouble. elvis15
Rather than just looking at cups and points, let's look at it also from the perspective of durability and contract. The Sedins have a great cap hit and signed with us for less than they could have gotten. Both are durable, with Henrik having the best ironman streak currently including playoff games.Hossa has a good cap hit but only as the result of a back diving, long term contract that lasts until he's 42. We would have had to pay him a higher cap hit on shorter term to get him, or end up with the cap penalties when he retires (possibly early, considering his injury history).Gaborik has a much higher cap hit and an extensive injury history, although he's been healthy of late. We know the Sedins have more points, and their PP points contribute a higher percentage than the others but that's not a negative against the Sedins. What is more impressive about the Sedins is we've been able to keep them here for value contracts and they've been very durable players. Hossa, while a good player, has been injured a fair amount and would have cost us more one way or another. Gaborik certainly would have cost us more and he hasn't been a playoff performer really considering the Rangers' success, while also being guilty of a long injury list as well. Peaches
Hossa has cups, Sedins don't. Gaborik can skate, Sedins can't. Hossa is a superstar in the league, Sedins aren't anymore.. Hossa performs in the playoffs, Sedins choke... Do you need any more reasons Messier hater?

kanucks25
LOL. Hossa has multiple cups cause he jumped from team to team, teams that were already stacked. Didn't he sign 1 year deals and lose in the finals twice before coming to Chicago? I wouldn't want a guy like him that's desperate and would leave a team in a second. Light Bearer
Wait a minute, is Hossa the guy who went down like he was shot when Hansen gave him a love tap? Or was that someone else, I can't quite remember.

Mangoes
Sedins are better period Their superstars and one of the Canucks key players along with Burrows, Kesler, etc. Getting Hossa and gaborik would bring the Canucks from President Trophy winners consecutive years to an 8th seeded team Good decision by Gillis keeping the Sedins
