Zack Kassian not what we think he is?

Be happy with him on the third or 4th line this year it's better for his development. Make him work for it.

I only agree if those lines start seeing more minutes. Kassian has played well enought o get *some* second line minutes. Might as well do it during a road trip, while Burr is getting back into game shape (he did just put on skate guards again. may need a few games to adjust again. happened last time he switched to wearing them)

Kass wants it bad enough he will earn it and i am happy at where he is playing now. Keep him hungry and fresh. Tortz way is winning now and of course adjustments will be bad but until he figures out the team, I dont think Kass will earn top 6 minutes until March-May.

He is a PF. This kid is going to be more badass then Bertuzzi and have a little more skill. Canucks at the moment have a good amount of forwards who have size and skating skills to match being a PF. Rather have that then a PF over weight and cant keep up to speedy forwards or defenders on the rush.

Hustle, drive, hands and making the crease your office = PF.

If fans cannot see how Kassian has been dominating a lot of shifts over the past 3 - 4 games then it has to be spelt out. The hit on Bolland followed by the pass behind the net to Richardson followed by the net presence that got him the goal deserved a star in of itself. Kassian combines with Sestito and Stanton then squashed TO's attempt at physical play. Kassian is showing flashes of what he will become within the next two seasons. Fans should be excited!

Come Playoffs all the dreamers will see exactly what a Kassian brings. If you don't have these types you will not win the Cup. He's like Bickell with more potential....

Why?

If we put him on the second or first line and it works and we win games then great. If it doesn't work then we don't.

Why add glass ceilings to the mix? If that was the case then we should be very mad that Santorelli is getting second line minutes. He just got here. Should earn that from line four. Maybe next year?

orrrrr, because Santorelli is effective where he is, so that's where we should play him? Same goes for Kass. We play him where it helps the team most.

Yeah but aren't the rules on this board to search for existing topics before posting a new one? Making the more recent ones useless because they OP didn't do a search before posting a new topic...

What most would do in this case where the subject, Kassian, is the same for both threads, is not search for a thread to necrobump and instead continue with the current thread, despite the new thread being 'useless'. The new thread is pretty much at the top, so I'm not sure how it was missed. But a necrobump is a necrobump... And i'm officially bored. Sorry folks.

people keep saying he has speed.... imo he has solid top end speed... but the guys agility is brutal. he stands and starts like hes skating in quick sand, and for someone with decent hands, he sure boots and fumbles a lot of pass receptions, followed by the "derp... whered the puck go?" routine as he 360s, and starts again from sand as he realizes that hes been stripped and the play has gone the other way.

listen, if he did the things hes more than capable of doing on a shift by shift basis, id be happy to overlook his short comings. but the fact is that hes a liabillity more often than being a contributor. THATS why coaches have a hard time giving him minutes. Its not all about potential. Somewhere along the line, its up to the player to figure it out. Which in his case, he needs to forecheck hard, bang bodies, drive the crease, create turnovers, protect the puck, make the high percentage plays. Off of doing those things consistently, the product should be a player with confidence that can be of value even when he doesnt hit the score sheet.

If he cant be that kind of player, he should be traded while his "potential" is still enough to get something of equivalent value.

At the moment, Kassian is a project at best.
