[Report] President Trevor Linden

Ehh I'm skeptical of how much hiring Linden as GM is to appease the fans vs merits. I can accept him being President but GM is a bit much IMO.

People are quick to point to Joe Sakic but he inherited the team and I think what helped the Avs was bringing in the legends rejuvenated the players.

The problems for the Canucks probably require much more than a culture change and will require some real work.

Nicholson - President

Linden - Vice President

Naslund - GM.

Smyl Retains position,

for the hell of it Pat Quinn for senior hockey advisor.

I suggested Pat in that role earlier, but I think it only happens if Linden becomes President and Nicholson doesn't take the job.

Who's Bob Nicholson?

Did he ever play for the Canucks??????

Former President and CEO of Hockey Canada. He just stepped down recently and he definitely has a lot of respect and connections within the Hockey community. I think he could bring some respect and positivity to Vancouver.

My sources say Trevor Linden is president

Stan Smyl is GM

GO CANUCKS

Stan Smyl doesn't have two brain cells to rub together. The guy is a complete lackey and has what is known as a sympathy job.

Nicolson as Pres and Linden as GM makes more sense than Linden being Pres.

GM is more of an upfront and in the spotlight job and that's what Linden would excel at.

I'm sooo nervous about Linden becoming GM. I'd hate to see something go wrong and the city turn on him.

That will happen, guaranteed. Pretty soon there will be a substantial contingent demanding that he jersey be removed from the rafters of Rogers Arena.

If they are going to hire Linden (or Nicholson) as President, thats fine. I'll support it.

As long as ownership stays the hell out of the way, and lets whoever they hire do their job like they didn't with Gillis.

If they are looking for this hire to just be someone to play the role of puppet for them, then screw this team.

Im happy for Linden but just wish he doesn't play favourites for players he played with and is afraid to approve trades etc

The funny thing is that Linden and Kesler are buddies,

But lets be honest here.

If this scenario comes to pass, Linden will be the figurehead and Nicholson will have the real power.

There is no bigger Linen fan than me, but he might be a little too "Nice" to be a GM. Part of the job is being a bit of a Pr^CK
