Keep in mind the sheer number of NCAA Div 1 teams and the fact that goalies on some of these teams are 22 years old (three years older than Demko).

This. The stats are arrange so that a goalie only has to play 33% of the team's minutes, so basically a backup can be in top goalie in the nation.

2.08 GAA and 0.928 SV% are phenomenal numbers. I think he will, by season's end, have a GAA close to 2 (hopefully under 2) and a SV% to be above 0.930 for sure.

Demko's stats are very similar to a lot of everyday goalies in the NHL that played in the NCAA. Miller's NCAA stats (not shown) were phenomenal.

NCAA Goaltenders in the year after their draft (same position as Demko):

Cory Scheider: 37GP, 2.03 GAA, .925SV%

Jimmy Howard: 49GP, 1.92 GAA, .924SV%

Ben Bishop: 34GP, 2.14 GAA, .923SV%

Curtis McElhinney: 19GP, 2.42 GAA, .906SV%

Jonathan Quick: 37GP, 2.16 GAA, .929SV%

Ben Scrivens (undrafted- showing second year stats): 35GP, 2.04 GAA, .930SV%

Alex Stalock: 23GP, 3.34GAA, .881SV%

Cam Talbot (undrafted- showing second year stats): 24GP, 2.95 GAA, .907SV%

Al Montoya (AHL after draft, showing secondar year stats): 40GP, 2.52 GAA, .895SV%

Carter Hutton (undrafted- showing second year stats)- 20GP, 2.48GAA, .909SV%

Nice bit of research Down by the River. Thanks.

I have very high hopes for Demko. There's just something about his personality and playing-style that just screams NHL goaltender.

Prediction! He'll be on Team Mcdavid at the All-Star game in 2021-2022
