Seven pounds soft
What are Bo Horvat's chances to make team North America in the upcoming World Cup of hockey? ( under 23 team) With projected forwards : Nathan Mackinnon 20 Ryan Strome 23 Conner Mcdavid 19 Sean Monahan 21 Jonathan Drouin 21 Mark Scheifele 23 Brandon Saad 23 Boone Jenner 23 Jack Eichel 19 Sean Couturier 23 Johnny Gaudreau 23 Curtis Lazar 20 Alex Galchenyuk 22 Jonathan Huberdeau 22 Max Domi 21 RNH 23 All fighting for a spot does our favorite son have a chance? What kind of year will Bo need to get noticed? Personally I think he will be on the radar already and 2nd line / 2nd unit pp duties would push him to the front of the pack. Edit: could he slot in as a winger or pk specialist ?
TheRussianRocket.
0. Too many centres who've proven they're better than Bo atm.
Langdon Algur
0. Too many centres who've proven they're better than Bo atm. Some of those centres could play wing. I would say his chances are pretty decent and the hockey news agrees with me: http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/world-cup-of-hockey-2016-projecting-the-north-american-youngstars/ That being said the OP forgot RNH who is pretty much a lock to make the team. McBackup
Depends entirely on his performance this season. If he continues the upward trend he was on during the latter half of last season I'd say he's got a good chance of making the team. If he has a sophomore slump, zero. baumerman77
I don't think he has a good shot at all. He would need to have a phenomenal year.

Oops forgot the Nuge. Did I forget anyone else? Good article. Has Bo 5th on center depth fighting SC for a checking role. Side note it also has Demko and Corrado on the bubble for goaltending and defensive duties respectively.

coryberg
Pretty sure the team has to be split between can/us (12/11) That makes his chances even worse

The hockey news projected roster only had a few Americans on it.
-AJ-
Unless he breaks out as a great 2nd-liner, he won't have a chance.
Phil_314
I think it depends on how management wants to build the team, and how much Bo develops next season. If management wants to follow in the footsteps of the 2014 Olympic teams and build the strongest overall unit with a focus on 200-foot play, I wouldn't be surprised if some scorers are passed up for guys who can lock things down. Likely locks for the forwards would be R.N.H., McDavid, Mackinnon, Saad, Eichel, Huberdeau, Schiefele, Strome, Gaudreau. In terms of 200-foot guys the likely candidates look to be Monahan, Couturier, Bo, Boone Jenner and Curtis Lazar, and aside from the first two being likely locks, Bo can at least have a fighting chance to be a taxi squad guy if that is made available. Mr.53
Lets also not forget people. Injuries are a real thing. Solid chance that the team won't have their first picks because players will get injured or refuse to join for whatever reason. Horvat has a solid chance at making the team if you ask me. Not saying he will, but he will definately get some looks, and might make the crack
Amish Rake Fighter
could he slot in as a winger or pk specialist ? it's been a couple years but he spent time on Domi's wing for the London Knights, he'll probably get at least some consideration at center, he's an ox on the upswing
Nave
I actually think he could make it. A lot of centres could play on the wing. His faceoff prowess lends a lot to the team.

This and his defensive play will be reason if he makes it, i could easily see one of the more offensive centers getting cut for Bo's defensive play. jdatb
Too many good centers. Doubt he would get a wing position.
Crabcakes
If it's an under 23 team, we can eliminate all those on the list who are 23 already

luckylager
If he was a year older his chances would be so much better. Tough to go up against Strome, RNH and Coutourier...or however you spell his french name. Chances are RNH will be recovering from surgery again,Droin will have had another bad year and Bo's chances are looking pretty good
homersexual
very slim chance at making the team. Here are my centres... Monahan, Nugent-Hopkins, McDavid, Eichel, Couturier. McDavid and Eichel could struggle, we don't really know how good they will be at the NHL level.
