Personally I think we need to draft a top D-Man, I don't want us to go down the same path as Edmonton, draft forward after forward & stuck in the "never ending rebuild".

2 Way Physical D-Man with Physical Edge

 

D - Jake Bean - 6'1 192

Ranked 21-ISS

Offensive D-Man who is solid in his own end

 

D - Mikhail Sergachyov - 6'2 205

47 points in 59 OHL Games

Ranked 9-ISS

Big Nasty Defender with big offensive upside

 

This draft has a ton of strong D-Men, I hope we can snag a couple.

I'd throw Juolevi into that mix as well. Fingers crossed we draft one of the four (one, probably even two of the four should be on the board when we pick).

I could see us ending up with Sergachyov if Canucks keep playing the way they are, but I can't see Canucks snagging Chychrun unless we really tank.

Fair enough but that topic is pretty open I wanted to narrow it down to a discussion based on people's opinions on drafting by position.  Normally I'd agree with some of the replies here that say "Draft the best available Player" but I'd really like to see us grab an early D-Man

I think this depends on drafting position. If they somehow drop into the bottom 3, then it's the BPA. Otherwise draft the d-man.

Best player available in the first round, but after that, focus on defense and goal. Need to build more depth there.

 

Depending on where we are drafting in the first, there's a couple of guys that would look good on defense in a couple of years.

Personally, I fully expect us to be in the 8-12 range.

 

In that range I believe it would be perfectly realistic to see Sergachev, Bean, McAvoy or Fabbro available.  I'd take any of them, but in that order.

If we stay where we are in the standing, judging by the draft simulator, we either get a top 3 pick or the 8 or 9 pick. So do up your top 10 and we will most likely get one. Of those 4 D how many are projected top 10?
