TheRussianRocket.
To Pittsburgh: Valeri Nichushkin Jamie Oleksiak (RFA rights) 2016 1st rounder (25th overall) Antti Niemi To Dallas: Marc-Andre Fleury > Stars get a legitimate starter that solidifies their crease once and for all, giving them a chance to go deeper in the playoffs. > Pens hit 2 birds with one stone. Resolve their goalie dilemma and get a nice return. Nichushkin helps the Pens add a forward in their top 9 mix who will replace older guys on the decline. Oleksiak will give them some depth with Dallas not likely to sign him anyways. > Niemi is a cap dump going back considering Dallas still has Lehtonen. Pens get their 1st rounder for taking on the headache/contract. Gives Pittsburgh a veteran to backup Murray if they choose to keep Niemi. ...win-win situation for both sides. Pittsburgh gets value back for MAF who would likely NOT be protected if an expansion draft took place, a young potentialfull forward for Sid/Geno to work with, blueline depth, and a 1st. On the other hand, Dallas gets that starter and move on from Nichushkin who didn't really work out as planned.

Blue Jay 22
Makes sense, but it seems like a lot for MAF. I think Dallas would want to lessen one of those assets, whether it was a later pick, or another youngster who didn't have Nuke's reputation. elvis15
Yeah, for MAF's contract, play and concussions it probably a lot to ask. I don't think Dallas bites.
Nuxfanabroad
Pitt should have to toss in another piece. They already pilfered Dallas' pocket in the Neal-deal.(of course, they recycled that too).
shazzam
I think Dallas will pass on MAF given his playoff struggles and injuries and that is a big package they are offering up. Maybe canes and flames can take a run
Jägermeister
Seems like a pretty big overpayment on Dallas' part. Fleury to Dallas is something I think will happen however, but I think they pass if that is the price it would take. Take Nichushkin out of the deal and it looks more fair IMO. Toews
The Pens will be forced to protect Fleury as he has a NMC and expose Murray. They are essentially being forced to trade Fleury so don't expect there to be a great return.
Pears
I think Nichushkin and their 1st/Oleksiak would be more than enough IMO. I agree though Fleury to Dallas makes a ton of sense. Now just imagine if Nuke plays with Malkin and becomes the player he's supposed to be
SaintPatrick33
This is kind of weird, good proposal but this is a canucks forum, I dont care for the penguins or dallas TBH, this deal is fair only when nichusken and niemi is traded for fleury. Dallas screwed up by signing two average goalies, trading Niemi eases their cap load while unloading nichuskin for the flower. Dallas cleary overpays in this proposal, plus is fleury really better than what they got? The dude has sucked since 2009 in the playoffs, why would the want another fragile goalie? Miller is light years ahead of fleury and can help them compete in the next 2 years while Dallas's window is open. Perhaps Dallas should beg us for miller for F#$%ing us in the Hammer deal! They might offer their late first, and Niemi, but that'd likely be it. There really isn't a market for goalies to begin with, and while MAF is better than Dallas' current goaltenders, we've seen in the past how inconsistent he can be when it counts. timberz21
With his performances in playoff, injuries and age, I don't think Fleury will fetch more than Luongo. His contract is better, but no one will pay premium for him IMO.

No one will pay a premium for MAF when they know that Pit is between a rock and a hard place. Like when JB was between a rock and a hard place when you know who demanded a trade to a select few teams and said teams knew JB had little bargaining leverage. That and only, there is only 30 goaltending spot (#1) in the league. Probably half the league is already set in goal, leaving fewer trade partners. Bottom teams won't pay for an aging goaltender and contenders (if not already set) won't trade for an upgrade in goal if it means a downgrade somewhere else. It's not only Pittsburgh, I think every teams that tries to trade a #1 will never get its true value, because of that. That is why goaltender market has never been crazy. If your trading a #1 goalie, its usually means he's a #1 in decline.
