1. First off, check the statistics and you'll find that most people who get things like measles and mumps HAVE been vaccinated.  2. Second, there has never been any proof that any vaccine works; in fact the narrative that you need a "booster" only proves that.  3. The creation of antibodies is not immunity, it is simply your body's natural response to being exposed to a foreign entity.  If you contract a disease naturally through normal vectors (nose, throat), you will gain life-long immunity because your body naturally fights it off and remembers.  Inciting an unnatural reaction via injecting antigens into tissues, which bypasses the front-end of the immune system, causes a disproportionate humoral response in the creation of antibodies while simultaneously 4. supressing the cellular aspect of the immune system, which is the part which actually resolves viruses and gives real immunity.  This is why kids who get chicken pox vaccines get the actual disease in their teens -- the virus keeps circulating in your body because it never gets fully resolved.  The flu shot is perhaps the worst of all -- 5. anyone who got it the year before H1N1 was twice as likely to contract it.  This was originally reported by Canadian scientists and later validated by other nations.

6. Vaccines actually weaken your immune system -- if you wonder why, simply read the package insert and see what's in them, then ask yourself what in there is nutritional or actually beneficial to the human body. 7.  Third, if vaccines actually worked, then it is completely irrelevant if anyone around you has had them or not.  That is pure illogical nonsense.  We are constantly hosting and resolving viruses without realizing it as it is, including cancer.

Go ahead, parrot the government and big pharma all you like, but investigate the science and the numbers if you actually want to know the facts.  But remember, should you ever get injured by a vaccine, they are the only industry given legal immunity from lawsuits.  Hopefully that alone makes one think.

As for the Canucks situation, if the players had been exposed to the mumps at a young age this wouldn't have been a problem.  When we grew up, we were put with other kids who had things like mumps and chicken pox, went through them, and gained life-long immunity as a result.

1.  Please post a link to these statistics and not from Andrew Wakefield please.  Lets try credible scientists.

2. Needed a booster does not prove anything.  I'll leave a link below from the CDC (although I'm sure you think they are paid off by big pharma) regarding Polio rates in the United States. Read this and let me know how effective that vaccine was. https://www.cdc.gov/polio/us/index.html

3. Are you suggesting that our immune system treats viruses differently based on how or where they enter the body?

4. What does that sentence even mean? Here is a link to a basic description of how our immune system works. https://www.vaccines.gov/basics/prevention/immunity/index.html

5. This is a non sequitur.  Just because the flu shot did not help against H1N1 doesn't mean the flu shot does not work.  Here is a link for you to inform yourself regarding the flue shot. https://www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/keyfacts.htm

6. Since the vaccine is meant to trigger an immune response it would make sense that there is nothing "nutritional' in them.  Here is a link to how Vaccines are made in case you are curious.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/keyfacts.htm

7. Do you know what herd immunity is?  Not every person is able to take a vaccine.  So in order to ensure that small percentage that cannot become vaccinated for medial reasons are able to avoid these diseases it is up to the rest of the population to maintain their vaccine schedule so that these folks do not have to deal with deadly diseases that their body has no tools to fight.  This is just a quick story of a mother who wasn't immunized against whooping cough and passed it to her newborn.  http://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-35975011  and another one with a video you can watch showing the effects of whooping cough on an infant.  https://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/jan/12/parents-share-video-of-babys-last-days-to-promote-whooping-cough-vaccination

Please do not spread this sort of misinformation.  I am not a doctor or scientist, but simply a dad who doesn't want my child to have to deal with potentially deadly diseases because of ignorance like yours.

Does anyone know if there is any truth to the rumor going around that this disease has been spread thru the ventilation system at the rink?   I'm not taking any chances and staying home tonight but would like to know anyhow.  Not worth the risk of getting contaminated.

Pretty much the most ridiculous post I've ever read. Go tell that to a grieving parent who was coerced into vaccinating their child for the "greater good". I'm sure the fact that other parents get to watch their children grow and lead regular lives while their own family is destroyed is a great comfort to them. All because a child might catch some relatively benign disease that the overwhelming majority who are afflicted with it completely recover from and then have natural immunity for life. I can't believe how many in our society have completely lost the ability to use reason and think for themselves.

Benign disease???

The MMR (Measles Mumps Rubella) vaccine has a adverse reaction rate of about 1 in a millilon. The adverse reactions can vary, but it ranges from rashes and irritations to death.  So for every 999999 people who are vaccinated one will get sick in some way.

Measels is 90 percent contagious. So let's say that a person coughs in a room and they unknowingly have the measles (without symptoms yet) and ten people are in that room, 9 people will contract the measels.  So in relative terms the measles is essentially 100% contagious as the 10% that didn't get it the first time will likely get the next

and so on.

Your 'benign' diseases are deadly.

Measles is directly fatal at a rate of 3 per 1000 cases.  It will also contribute to other diseases in a co morbid way (someone with another disease gets even sicker). 2 or 3 more of the 1000 will develop an enchelopathy (holes in the brain) and will die in a few decades or so from having the measles.

So let's play a game.

The tale of two cities, both have a million people living in them.

City 'anti vaxxer' and City 'Science' have the exact same demographics.

Anti Vax is populated by homeopaths, religious fundamentalists, Celebrities,  gluten free hipsters, the Taliban (hard to tell apart from the hipsters, both have beards and were similar clothes, but the Taliban carry guns and are angry all the time.).

Melanie Trump lives there and Donald is the Mayor.

These groups all share the same anti vaxxer philosophy.

The other city is the rest of us and the scientists, cause they have already figured this $&!# out.

So the anti vax city thinks vaccines will make you gay (Taliban) are against gods will (fundamentalists) or will somehow

make everyone autistic (Kinda explains Trump).  So when a measles outbreak has been reported, they vote to not vaccinate.  Everyone gets sick (has and adverse reaction) their society breaks down and  3000 people die.

Luckily they live next to Science and those folks decided to vaccinate.  Only one person got sick and had flu like symptoms for a week with a weird rash. Science was able to send relief and assistance to Anti Vax to prevent further damage, but the people of Anti Vax refuse, now they are dealing with a polio epidemic.

So let's check the math.

Anti Vax, 1 million got sick, 3000 died and their city looks like a set on the Walking Dead.

Science, barely noticed, only one person got sick and they are now buying up cheap houses in Anti Vax, as Anti Vax's economy was utterly devastated.

End rant/

Story of the history of the franchise. Since they changed their name from the Vancouver Millionaires to the Canucks.

Truth.

But the incredible amount of injuries the past 2 seasons was what I was referring to.

Holy some of the posts in this thread.

Anti-Vaxxers might actually be the stupidest type of people there are.

Would our guys getting previously vaccinated have prevented this mumps outbreak?  If that's the case, then it is JB's fault, right?

Don't mean to offend but I am sure you would be surprised if you spent more time looking into this subject. Much of what the CDC says flies in the face of studies. I want to get a flu vaccine but study after study tells us that if you get it yearly your immunity to the flu virus decreases and your chances of getting the flu are greater than no vaccine. Also, the measles and mumps vaccines are ineffective. It is impossible to get herd immunity with them believe it or not. Most outbreaks occur in heavily vaccinated populations. All this from well respected scientist who are totally pro vaccine

Good story but mumps and measles vaccines are ineffective and most outbreaks occur in heavily vaccinated populations. It is impossible to get to a point of herd immunity. If this is something of interest to you you should spend more time looking into it. I would be surprised if in the NHL after previous outbreaks that there isn't a policy and that all players involved have been vaccinated and have had boosters.

The flu vaccine is actually a minor dose that causes your own antibodies to build up to resist catching the flu. Increasing your antibodies is a good thing. The vaccine each year is based on which types of flu are the most likely to be spreading. It doesn't weaken your immunity it puts it to work to build it up.

Antibiotics on the other hand fight infections for you rather than your body fighting those infections. Antibiotics can reduce your immune system as you don't need to develop your own antibodies to fight for you.

That is just bogus info.

There "have" been outbreaks in vaccinated populations like college campuses where, in addition to lifestyle and proximity issues, it also coincides with the protection starting to wane without boosters, but most occur in populations where the vaccination rates are low.  The vaccines ARE effective and have resulted in a 99% decrease in the diseases at a population level, that is pure incontrovertible fact.  The efficacy rate of mumps is about 79% which is pretty darn good (measles around 99% and flu around 60%)... but it does mean you need to get to the low 90% vaccination rate range in order for herd immunity to be most effective.

You should really vet your sources as the anti-vaxx sites cherry pick information and rely on either no science or non peer reviewed single studies.... while ignoring the mass of research and literature contrary to their beliefs.  If 99 out of 100 doctors agree on something, you don't get to pick the one who doesn't and say that is the medical evidence.

Subban time?

Doubt it Willie d would play him like 10 minutes. And clench his cheeks if he ever got on the ice.

Im sure they rather recall Pedan and play him over Subban.

Subban is getting traded sometime in the next year the Canucks dont believe he can play NHL shifts defensively. Though I doubt he is a much worse defender than a young Mike Green in the d zone.
