Thomas Gradin on Elias Pettersson:

"For sure he has played better than I expected. It's so soon and he's playing like a veteran guy. He has a skill to fit the game as it's played now."

Fun fact: Pettersson is halfway to Gradin's record for most goals by a Canuck rookie centreman (Gradin had 20 in 1978-79).

Honestly, this is gonna rub the Juolevi folks the wrong way but imagine if we drafted Tkachuk instead of Juolevi? A line of Tkachuk - Pettersson - Boeser. That's pretty nasty. We'd absolutely be hurting in the defensive prospect pool but I dunno man. Tkachuk and Pettersson could do some real damage, and we wouldn't really have to worry about protecting Petey.

Why would it rub anyone the wrong way but if that universe had unfolded, the Canucks would have an even bigger hole in their defensive prospect pool (the weakest part of their depth chart) at the hardest position to fill (UFA near impossible and trades rare unless you are giving up the likes of a Horvat - look what Edmonton paid).   If that universe did unfold and you sway, say, Goldie for BT you may have more up front but the team has very thin prospect depth (even further than current) and the emergence of Boeser, EP, Horvat could be somewhat wasted without having some great first pass D prospects beyond just Hughes.

EP has developed much quicker than anyone reasonably expected save himself, Swedish coaches and likely God herself.   The concept of players like Lind or Gadjo taking on a wing with him someday is more likely that Canucks have in mind.
