The media narrative will be that we overpaid for average players though, while praising the Leafs for their brilliant signing of Spezza.

higgyfan
He would have been a great player (with a great contract) for Bo' s line, but there's no way the Canucks would be able to fit him in under the salary cap. Lou and Loui contracts

DeNiro
Hopefully Hoglander can join the team in a year or two and be a younger cheaper version of Nyquist.

Popular Post oldnews
I don't mind at all missing out on Nyqvist. Good player - but at 4 x 5.5, not sure he'd be a great fit. The thing is Nyqvist might be a 50-60 pt guy - but he's not that necessary with Boeser here (I'd rather keep Boeser with EP considering the MIller add) - and for Horvat's line, I think I'd rather see what Virtanen could do considering Pearson Horvat gives you a relatively heavy, speedy transition line that will be hard to handle and can deal with any kind of minutes. Additionally, getting Podkolzin at 10 would make me hesitant to park 5.5 million at RW. I'm happy with the present mix of Boeser, Virtanen, (Baertschi?), Leivo, Gaudette = I think they'll have a solid option from within - not a great need to spend 20+ million there imo. They can still potentially move a Baer, Goldobin or even LE - get a shorter term contract or not - and have more cap flexibility. This did not need to be solved today imo. Otherwise, some great work thus far in terms of organizational need - pwf for EP, 20+ minute RHD, potential 18-20 minute depth D, and some good depth signings for Utica. Couldn't really ask for more, or for le$$. Edited July 1, 2019 by oldnews

deus.ex.makina
We will go nowhere without a real good quality winger for Horvat, Nyqvist should had been the perfect fit for him i'm so disapointed. Eriksson prevents us to sign Nyqvist that's upset me. This guy will do everything he could to not help us. Hope we get rid of him very soon. brian42
I would have been happy to have Nyquist at 4 X 5.5. Wish Benning did more to get rid of a little more $$. Also the cap penalty clearly cost us Nyquist.
