It is not like he is 18/19. He is 23 yet he took a huge development step in the last few weeks. Hopefully he continues to develop into a great player for us. We have examples of players like Goldy and Virtanen who have not been able to develop like Gaud has at the same age. We all know people develop at different rates but Gaud has been impressive in the last month for sure. Have ya ever watched videos on NHL'ers off season training on YouTube, amazing effen athletes on and off the ice and Jake doesn't get it! Still thinks hes a kid playing a game for fun And doesn't need to work at it because hes the best and always been the best. I thought he had his breakthrough then... but it was a just a flash. The fact is he is a slow learner... but when he does learn, he learns well. Look at his pattern: First year in USHL, 30 pts. Then first year North Eastern U... 30 pts... but then he wakes up... next year, he gets 56 in 60 games, next year 60 in 60. With the Canucks.... first year 2017/2018 zero points in 5, next year 2018/2019 he gets 12 points in 56. But interestingly he gets 9 points in 14 games at Utica after being sent down. This year.... who knows? The season hasn't started... but from what he is showing in the pre-season he looks like he has 'GOT' the lesson... he looks ready to Ace the NHL entrance exam. Of course this could be another flash in the pan... but I don't think so. He is bigger, stronger, faster, and his anticipation and shooting is showing way better. Right now he is looking like he will be at least a 30 pt guy... maybe even 40. Canucks need to make room for him. Better yet lets play Jake with a bunch of plumbers who he has to wait for to catch up. I want him to go to another team and turn out like cam neely to show how the canucks are run by a bunch of losers. Face it we're lousy at developing players, we cheap out hiring rookies to run and coach the team. Then we spend all our time complaining and wondering why our team sucks.
