It should count against the cap for 10 years, same amount of time the &^@#ers got away with it. And they should forfeit 5 years of 1st round picks too. Industrious1
Like the idea of forfeiting some picks. Couple years without a 1st would be nice to see. Is there a precedent for something like this in pro-sports?

They decided to not to even talk to Aldridge about it til the season was over because of how it might impact the team's chemistry and playoff performance. This is damning.

wallstreetamigo
The Hawks benefitted significantly financially from doing this. The team, the owners, the staff, and the players. Unless they are all punished at least partially for that there is no incentive to not put their gains ahead of doing what is right. Any players who were around should be suspended for the season without pay while their full cap hit remains on the books. Any executives or players on other teams now should not get a get out of jail free card either. They should be immediately fired.

wallstreetamigo
Just now, Industrious1 said: Think that is Friedman's way of calling them out. How the NHL responds here will say everything about how serious they are about stopping stuff like this from happening in the game. I expect their response will be embarrassingly inadequate.

Coconuts
The NHL has a chance to really bring down the hammer here, they should but I'm not expecting them to.

Toews especially needs to take the punishment as he allowed the training camp issues to go on while he was wearing the C.

I think the fallout for the individuals involved may end up being more telling than the slap on the hand for the organization. I like to be very slow to pass judgement, but from the little bit I’ve paid attention you would think anyone involved with that management group should be very concerned about there current employment situations. Looks like Bowman is already out… it will be interesting to see what happens with guys who are now with different organizations (Q and Cheveldayoff [thanks @mll]) Edited October 26, 2021 by J-Dizzle

King Heffy
Suspend Toews for the year, strip him of the C, and disqualify him for the HHOF. What an absolute piece of garbage. 1
