I've heard this theory before and most of us would be overjoyed if this variant (high infections rate, very low sickness rate) did turn out to be the beginning of the end  of Covid.  The problem with this theory, is that the data is coming from African nations that have a very young population compared to other countries.  We already know that the variant is far more infectious than the Delta variant, but it is too early to suggest that it is less dangerous to the nations that have an older population.  Omicron is migrating quickly and multiplying at a staggering rate, which means it is likely going to be in our faces before we know how whether it will surpass Delta in hospital admissions and deaths. Time will tell, but if Dr.M is correct, then it won't matter anyway.  If he's wrong, there will be a lot of sick and dying people that were never protected by increasing restrictions.

Why do you need the urge to add the word Trump - I agree, the guy is a baffon but you sound very one sided, in this issue ?  It seems lots of people, are missing the point: is it a health issue or political ?  Sadly, people are combining both and it is not going to a very good place - imo.
